Excited About the Great Crusade

Hello guys first time posting in this forum .

I'm just getting started into the hobby and finished my first box markIV emperors children marines and planning to do an army based around a still loyalist chapter of them trapped in the warp. I'm planning on playing the game soon however i'm fairly confused on which rule book I should be buying to start building a list. The index 1 imperium seems to be the only option for space marine rules but with all the new primaris models coming out, will it be irrelevant really quickly. So my question being is there any point in buying the index 1 imperium at all right now? or will the primaris marines get their own codex giving a longer lifetime to the index.

Thankss!

The Primaris Marines are not their own chapter. They can be used with any currently existing Space Marine army. Index 1 is the only guideline they have out right now and GW has shown a tendency to put out new Codexes all the time. However, rumor has it that all the codexes were written at the same time with this edition. But even if that is true, GW will not release them all at the same time and it might be auite some time before you see a Codex for any of the Chapters of space marines.

Index 1 is only rules so far
Primarus guys can fight in any chapter but there is chapters with only them in it so ether gw will give them a codex of there own first or later but normal marines are still the focal you might expect some fancy primaris marines which are chapter percific like maybe they ridenbigger wolf's. For space wolf's or fancy jump troops for blood angels you get the idea.

If you're being fluffy, I wouldn't expect a warp lost army of Emperor's Children to be getting any Primaris reinforcement. The rest of the Loyal Space Marines would still consider them Traitors. Allying with other Imperium units (outside of Inquisition types, I suppose) should be fine, as your average Guardsman isn't going to turn down power armoured help, especially if it's adorned in Aquilas.
Of course, there could be ways around that if you're interested in adding Primaris troops. A group of veterans lost in the warp might have found time to develop similar tactics, in fact the all special weapons squad is very much a Heresy/Great Crusade throwback. You could convert regular marines with the same load-outs, and attribute their better stats to experience or use the new models and just blag it. If you're playing them with the Imperium Index I list most people shouldn't mind what colour they're painted in.
