As above, so below. The Mon'keigh are to receive the blessings of their corpse lord, and we shall respond in kind. The forge of Vaul shall be awakened, and today as all days, its operation shall be petitioned by Khaine.
IOW, what do you want to see next codex?
I'd like +6" range to Shuricats and Avenger Shuricats. I just feel it better suits the Eldar's schtick of trying to stay alive while being cowardly and cheating.

I prefer cheaper, short-ranged catapults myself. I can see where it's less fluffy in a vacuum but it means that Eldar have access to really efficient firepower such that overall they play the way they ought to. You want to move very quickly, get right up in the enemy's face, and rely on sheer firepower to keep you safe by killing everything close by. It's how they're differentiated from Tau, who get longer range while being slower and weaker. It'd be nice if Dire Avengers had a playable cost, though.
I'm actually pretty happy with the overall feel of the index. There are some things that could use buffs, and some things that could use nerfs, but it basically seems like Eldar to me. I think that mostly I want the things everyone wants -- more psychic stuff and Craftworld rules. Outside of Asuryani, I also really want to like the Yncarne but I find that the Soulburst rules just don't mesh that well with melee units, and in general I think that some work there might make a lot of Aeldari CC more appealing, whereas now it really isn't outside of maybe Harlequins, Shining Spears, and Razorwing Flocks.

Regarding Shuricats: I liked 7th edition Avengers a lot because their mid-ranged guns and ability to run away after using them felt very "guerilla warfare" to me.
CRAFTWORLDERS
* Craftworld-specific stratagems unlocked by having over half of your army with the <Craftworld> keyword.
*Access to Revenant powers for Farseers and Warlocks maybe? Might be OP.
Aside from that, I've actually really enjoyed how craftworlders play so far.
DARK ELDAR
* BY THE WRATH OF THE 7 MUSES, GIVE US OUR CHARACTERS BACK. D:<
* Kabal-specific stratagems
*Dittio wych cults
* Ditto covens
* Make Drazhar's buff not pointless after turn 3 when PFP makes it redundant. Alternatively, let Drazhar join the Ynnari.
* I'd like to see the heat lance and haywire blaster buffed again. Both seem meh against vehicles to me.
* I'd very much like to see some sort of mechanic or mission reminiscent of the old "slave-taking" rules.
* Bike/wing/board upgrade options for our HQs pretty please. The old pre-5th conversions looked great, and the fluff/modeling possibilities for such things are great.
*Webway portals. Make it wargear. Make it a fortification. Make it a stratagem. Whatever. I miss my webway portals.
*"Lesser lhamean" units. I actually really enjoyed fielding a raider full of lhameans for 10 points apiece last edition. The rugged, 3 wound, character lhamean is neat, but it doesn't scratch the same itch.
HARLEQUINS
* Saedath-specific stratagems that you can only take advantage of when you fulfill certain criteria. Basically, you get a power boost if you can fulfill the steps of a symbolically-rich dance.
*A boost to our haywire weapons. See the haywire blaster above.
YNNARI
*More fluff. I like where their story is going and wish to see it continue. Also, more fluff related to the Visarch and Yvraine. I didn't love the way either of these guys came across in FoB. Yvraine spends too much time getting yoinked around by the plot, being a Mary Sue, and kind of being a little bit dislikable. The Visarch's whole thing is, "Look how mysterious I am," and Yvraine is all, "Didn't you teach me karate for like, a century? I had dinner with your wife and kids." And then he's all, "Er... Okay, but check out all this exposition I have and these incubi I hang out with now. How did I come to be here?" And she's all, "Probably the same way I came to be here: plot demands and bad life decisions."
OTHER
*Exodites. O_O
|
ATTENTION. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

I'd like for the archon to have access to combat drugs, maybe a more useful aura then using his leadership. It's total ass since it only works if he's on foot, and Deldar don't really have much use for ld buffs anyway.
Above all else,I want names that aren't fething garbage, kthx.
Edit- We are never EVER getting rules for things that don't have a model ever again. Nu-Games Workshop HATES conversions,kit-bashing etc. If they had the power to they would track down every converted model and shatter it with a hammer.
Thanks, IP lawyers.

Taking another punt at wishlisting - I'd like for Fire Prisms to stop being the least efficient AT unit this side of the Immaterium. Srsly, lobbing a unit of Guardians at a tank does a better job.

#1 priority, fix Aspect Warriors, both in terms of rules and models. Give us the plastic range GW!
- Reduce Dire Avengers to 13 points. They are among the worst foot troops in the game right now.
- Give Scorps and Banshees 3 attacks base. At the moment they are extremely inferior to Incubi & Harlequins. Fix the stupid interaction between the Scorpion's Claw and the exarch's Sustained Attack rule, probably by dropping the -1 to hit and making the claw more expensive.
- Give Warp Spiders their jump pack move or increase range to 18"
- Give Hawks some form of haywire grenades.
Fire Dragons, Dark Reapers and Shining Spears work fine, as do Shadow Spectres.
On the Drukhari side, I'd like to see Wyches/Bloodbrides reduced in points, and to see Bloodbrides gain better access to special weapons than the regular Wyches like they used to. Additionally, Heat Lances and Haywire Blasters desperately need a buff.
edit: Also, rework the Executioner and the Archite Glaive so that they're not just a worse version of the power fist.

I'd like to see Corsairs get a proper list. They were my favourite army in 7th and the Corsair Prince was my favourite HQ. Now I have some useless conversions that only exist to gather dust on a shelf.
Genesaika wrote:I would love to see some new HQ options for dark eldar. Currently we have problems making multiple detachments without taking multiples of hqs... Which makes no sense fluff wise.
Indeed. I'd still like to see a Mandrake HQ choice. I'd also like our current HQ choices to have some actual mobility options (Jetbikes, Skyboards and/or Wings).
I also think it was a mistake to make their buffs to exclusive. It makes no sense that an Archon can confer his Ld to kabalites but not wyches or other non-kabalite members of his kabal. was his ability really not crap enough already? Then you have the haemonculi - the sculptors of flesh - who can improve the toughness of vehicles but not wyches or warriors.
I'd also like to see Haemonculi get healing-type abilities (the sort of thing you see on Apothecaries, Medics and such).
In addition to aforementioned Mandrake HQ, maybe give us some demi versions of out other HQs? Perhaps go back to having a Haemonculus and a Haemonculus Ancient (with the former being cheaper but having worse stats and perhaps a weaker buff or smaller aura). Likewise, have the Dracon be a proper HQ again (a sort of Lieutenant Archon).

- Dire Avengers need to be cheaper(srsly, it must be a typo) or need an ability worth it. 5+ overwatch is far too situational and shouldnt be the reason why they cost more than a necron warrior or Space marine which even have a much better statline and/or special abilites
- make other heavy weapons playble, there is no reason to use something besides Shuriken Cannons an Bright Lances right now
- Grav Tanks dont feel eldar-ish enough, they suck, dont know how to fix them(Wave serpent in comparison is too strong)
- Plastic aspect warriors! (model new warpspiders already! them being so fething ugly is keeping me from buying since, i dont know? 10 years?)

At a glance?
-Dire Avengers cost needs fixing (they're fine power level, but broken with points...so this doesn't really affect me, but I think it's bad for people doing tournaments, etc.)
-The Falcon is a bit pricey.
-If the Falcon isn't reduced in cost they need to nerf the Wave Serpent a bit (it's just too good - is taken freely w/o a slot and is tougher/better in most situations) The math/cost between the two is just wrong.
-12" range shuriken catapults are still stupid (have been since 3rd). They're made worse when you give them to poor weak infantry in a game version where close combat is incredibly deadly and common. There's no point for an infantry weapon to be an "overwatch only" tool which serves little purpose.
-The rending/blade storm/whatever nonsense needs to be skipped/removed and simply give shuriken weapons a bump in save modifiers (give a shuriken catapult a -1 and call it a day). The extra complexity of "hit on a six and it changes!" doesn't help the game or add anything.
-Still dislike the Autarch and would be fine seeing it disappear.
-Oh...make Exodite models and add some of those units to the main codex.
-I'd say plastic aspect warrior kits, but...that won't happen (and I don't really need them).
-How about some actual storm guardian models? That'd be pretty cool.

I don't play Eldar, but I'd like to see some more division along the faction lines, with Ynnari being "almost everything craftworld eldar and dark eldar get" I'd like to see 8th edition really take the three eldar factions and take some effort to make them distinct... so... new units for all!

Harlequins:
- fix the death jester. Either a massive point reduction, or a change in its rules
- fix neuro-disruptors. Their fleshbane rule wasn't carried over to 8th, and I think it's an oversight (many other weapons got a "wound on 2+, expect against vehicles"). They need a point cost/profile that puts them on equal footing with the fusion pistols: one should be better against monsters, the other against vehicles. At the moment there is no reason to ever take a neuro
- fix haywire cannons. I think the main issue is with the platform. The prismatic is better on the Voidweaver, and a heavy weapon is just so much worse than a versatile assault weapon on a bike that can advance + charge (with decent melee capacities). So I don't really see how to fix it.
- add leadership/morale based attacks/modifiers. Obviously a return of the mask of secrets, and Ld-based psychic powers. Maybe auras too. The DJ could have an aura similar to Typhus': "for every enemy units within 6" of a harlequin unit that is itself within 6" of a DJ, roll 2D6: if the result is greater than the enemy's Ld value, the enemy unit takes a mortal wound".
Dark Eldar:
- change the archon's aura. It mostly gives +1 Ld to 5-man units that already have Ld 8. So it's pretty much useless.
- court of the archon: needs some point reductions across the board. And the "court of the archon" special rule should say that all models taken in a detachment using this rule (so without taking a slot) should count as a single KP.
And obviously, new units would be great, but it goes beyond a simple codex.

I'm hoping for good <Craftworld> abilities
Choosing Saim Hann should give me back my Troops (Windriders) so I don't have to take Kabalites to fill a Battalion detachment (sure I can take an Outrider detachment, but that is 2 less Command points)
Other than that, only points tweaks are needed. Dire Avengers should be 6ppm + 7ppm gun = 13ppm total
I'm pretty sure this was an oversight as the Avenger Cat needs to have a points cost for the Autarch.
Starcannons also need a points drop, especially with the FAQ making them D3 damage instead of 3. There is no reason to take them over a Bright lance for that points difference. If they were the same cost (20pts), there would be an actual choice.

The one general one that applies to all armies is fix Haywire, it doesn't matter what the gun is or which army it's in, Haywire is just bad.
Craftworld Eldar
- Fix Aspect Warriors, most are too expensive for what they do so make them either cheaper or better.
- Then make them plastic.
- Grav tanks need a significant boost while the Wave Serpant a slight nerf.
- +6" on Shurican Catapults and new Guardian models, the current plastics are hidious.
- In fact just update as much of the range as is possible, so much of it is just old, ugly, finecast or all of the above, only the Wraithguard, Wraithknight, Windrider, grav tank and character kits are good.
Drukhari
- Cheaper Venoms, Splinter Cannons being less effective at range now makes the point increase harder to stomach, particularly in an army that has to take mass transports.
- Better auras on our HQ's with more synergy.
- Cheaper Heat Lances at S7.
- Better Talos, they're good at anti-infantry but have lost a lot of effectiveness at tearing up vehicles and monsters.
- Plastic Grotesques.
- Shredders that work.
- More access to special weapons on Bloodbrides and make them cheaper, paying an extra 4pts for +1A is not good.
- S4 Liquifiers
- A reworking of the Court of the Archon, they're too expensive and don't really work now.
Harlequins
- Neuro Disruptors need to wound on a 2+ again and half the cost.
- The Death Jester is really lackluster, both his special rule and the Shrieker Cannon need a significant boost.
- Half the cost on the Kiss.
Ynnari
- More models, a generic HQ and unique troops for the army is a must at this point.
Exodites, Corsairs and any others.
- An army.

some good points here for sure....
Bring back the Black Guardians with webway portal strikes (I just started painting some up with Fracture book...poof, gone!). Made guardians more dynamic and the 12" range on catapult actually decent.
As mentioned, fix the Eldar tanks to make them better options. Holofields should be available that give a -1 to hit if vehicle moved. Vectored engines is an odd choice for getting a -1 to hit and it only works with serpents and shuricannons.
Increase psychic options
Adjust starcannon points to make up for nerf to damage output in FAQ
Harlequin stuff already mentioned, although I would love to see some new units.

Craftworld Eldar
- Plastic Aspect Warriors (seriously, just 2 boxes should be able to cover everything on foot)
- Prism Cannon Changes:
Dispersed: D6 shots (shoots 2D6 if it stays stationary)
Focused: D3 shots (shoots 2D3 if it stays stationary)
Lance: 1 Shot, Causes 2D6 damage (hits on 2+ if stationary)
- Grav Tanks in general need more fire power or points reduction to compete with far superior Wave Serpent.
- Avatar of Khaine: 2+ Save, or 4+ Invulnerable
Harlequins
- Neuro Disruptors wound on a 2+
- Harlequin Kiss should reduce attacks by 1 then be S6 ap-3 , D3 damage for their cost now.
- Solitaire: Give him a -1 to hit penalty for enemies hitting him in close combat... A normal trooper shouldn't hit him on 3+ in CC. Then, either buff him more, or allow players to take 1 per detachment or something.
- Death Jester needs flat ap on his gun to make him worth it. (or some aura ability) Troupe Master should have been re-roll to hit, Death Jester is re-roll to wound.
- Some new units to fill out other detachments would be great.
Ynnari
- Add generic Ynnari Farseers, maybe even Autarchs with slightly different abilities.

Wave Serpent: drop down to W10, keep the shield, price stays the same.
Falcon: Increase to W13, drop the price to match the Serpent.
Dire Avengers: 12 points each or so. 17 is ludicrous - these guys are more expensive than Vespids, but not nearly as good. In fact, they're mostly comparable to Sisters: better gun, faster, but weaker armor.
Fire Prism:
- Dispersed mode fires 6 shots instead of d6 if you remain stationary.
- Focused fires 3 instead of d3 if you stay stationary.
- Lance deals flat 6 damage if you stay stationary; 6 to wound also inflicts a mortal wound.

-Better internal balance, be it a reason to run "mixed aspects" over copypasting the "One aspect to rule them all" (Fire Dragons in 5e, Warp Spiders in 7e, arguably Dark Reapers for 8e), or a reason to run Falcons over Wave Serpents.
-More "tactical flex" for many of the "melee only" units. Hellions laying Cluster Caltrops, Haemonculi inflicting Cryxian status debuffs, Hellions being able to "drag" enemy models around when they withdraw (or Wraithshields having a "repulsion" effect), etc.
-More "variety" in unit options. Rememeber when Death Jesters could take Bright Lances? An Elite "gunslinger" Harlequin variant that could dual-wield pistols also be *fun*. Letting Wraithlords take Aspect Warrior skills would also be awesome.
-Eldar analogues to Apothecaries/Techmarines would be neat. The Haemonculus should in fact be allowed to resurrect fallen characters, at a price.

Think not of it as failure but a temporary setback. When all else fails, torture more victims!
The alternate idea I had been experimenting with for my " 40k rewrite" was based on the 5e fluff for the Talos. Not only was the Talos used as a guardian, but as a mobile laboratory, with the ability to distill its victims into a variety of raw materials which could be used for a variety of purposes. Given that the Haemonculi are less conventional scientists, and more akin to an exaggerated medieval alchemist (transmutation of the outside world=corresponding transmutation of the soul), one idea I was experimenting with (based on the idea that you could use datacards ala WMH to track wounds, etc) was:
-When a Talos destroys an enemy unit, place that enemy unit's datacard underneath the datacard of the Talos that slew it. A Talos may store one Datacard in this manner. At any time, the Talos may discard this card in order to invoke the "essence" of that unit: You may select any and all of the model's Personal USRs on that datacard; for the remainder of the player turn, the Talos has Aura(6", friendly Coven units)[The selected USRs].
And then you could adjust such rules for 8e to use a single "bespoke" rule. Thus, if a Talos was able to kill an Avatar of Khaine (against all odds), it would grant an aura of fire immunity, etc. The idea would need playtesting for balance, but the idea is to emphasize the pseudo-mystic process by which the Haemonculi operate.

It would not. Eldar mechanics are Bonesingers, who use their psychic abilities to shape the Wraithbone. However, they take centuries to train, and the Eldar are extremely reluctant to take them anywhere outside of a Craftworld.

This makes absolutely no sense. The Serpent is physically bigger than the other Grav-tanks thanks to the rear extension piece that comes on the sprue specific to the Serpent
The Serpent has 1 more wound than the other tanks for this exact reason
If you want the other tanks to have a reason to be taken over the Serpent, than return Holo-fields to the Falcon/Prism/Spinner as a built-in ability (no additional points cost)
The Serpent can have its Shield, the others can have a 5++ against shooting.
That would be a start, at least

do you people honestly feel the serpent needs a Nerf? I think it seems about right. It's damage is low for it's cost and it's a good transport.
Falcon and fire prism and night-spinner nee to see see -30 points cost.
Starcannon and EML - need 10-5 point cost reduction.
TL shuriken catapult needs point cost reduction to 4 points from 10 points.
Wraithlord needs a point reduction and to be 9 wounds.
rework vehicle upgrades.

Harlequins need an army wide nerf to invo saves to 5++. 4++ on every model is exceptionally dumb - you wonder why these armies dominate? It's because they are pointed like glass cannons but are typically -1 to hit -1 to wound and have 4++ saves....LOL. Compared to the rest of the eldar - its quite stupid - not to mention the silly amount of fusion pistols they can field.

The Serpent is certainly very strong, though I'm not sure it's out of line with many other transports such as the Razorback, Taurox Prime, Venom/Starweaver, Ghost Ark, and Repressor. Compared to the Razorback, a Serpent is significantly less shooty per point and somewhat more durable against ranged multi-damage weapons, plus it has Fly. My sense is that the bigger issue is that battle tanks are in general underpowered in 8th, from Predators to Russes to Falcons to Monoliths. Transports and flyers are about the only things keeping non-titan vehicles in the game.

I don't think it's externally unbalanced so much as internally unbalanced. It's just better than the Falcon, which is supposed to make up for being a worse transport than the Serpent by being a better tank, and right now it's not especially.
The precise tweaks could vary, but in short, the Serpent should have its gimmicky shield, but should be less durable than the Falcon, while the Falcon lacks the shield, but should be somewhat more durable even without it. (Since their firepower is similar and there's no good way to change that without knock-on consequences). Ok, yeah, that does make more sense. My thought here is that the Wave Serpent is both a better tank and a better transport than the Falcon right now, and, to boot it's also cheaper. There should be a tradeoff, and if one should be just better, it should be the more expensive model that uses the heavy support slot, not the cheaper DT. It's an internal balance problem.

The internal balance is the most notable aspect. In the 4e codex ported to 5e, the tradeoff was Wave Serpents were tougher vs Melta/Lascannons/Railguns and could transport more, but Falcons had 3 guns, and could take Holofields, making it harder to destroy them.
Come 6e, Serpents got Serpent Shield, so they got a third gun. One that was way more powerful than the Pulse Laser at that. Add in changes to Holofields (better Cover, and the Serpent could also take it), and the HP system, and Falcons had no reason to exist. The 7e dex toned the Serpent Shield down...but proceeded to add D to Eldar!
