Wanted to grab the community's quick opinion on the best melee weapon option for a vanilla Chaos Lord? I ask before I glue the arms on for all eternity.

For the purposes of this thread, I have the following bits:
- Chainsword
- Power Sword
- Lightning Claw
- Power Fist

Reading online, I know that the Power Axe is generally considered the best take-all-comers weapon, but, alas, I have no Power Axe bits.

Thanks!

IMO Power fist - With their 2+ to hit and rerolling 1's it helps mitigate that -1 to hit.

If you have 2 claws, go with two. One Claw and a Combi weapon is pretty good.

But out of those other options, a Lord is one of the few reliable fisters right now. I wouldn't consider them worthy on Champions except some berserkers or plague Marines. If he is just an aura guy anyway a sword can be easy, and I'm hoping we get some new Sword relic soon anyway. Does the Terminator Lord kit have a sword? We have to look at the kit options for any hints as to what we might see

No sword for termi lords.

I have a Jump Pack Lord with a Claw and Fist. I figure he's probably still viable in 8th, or at least not completely garbage. My Juggerlord, on the other hand, has an axe and fist. Not sure that's a very good combo (back when I ran him in KDK with Axe of Khorne and Power Fist he was amazeballs).

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Thanks all, Power Fist it is!

To confirm, does that mean the Chaos Lord gets to, essentially, re-roll all misses when rolling to hit with the fist? Since it's -1 to all rolls to hit, but you can't get lower than a 1 on a D6, all 1's remain 1's and all 2's become 1's meaning ... re-roll all misses?

Depends on what you want to do with your lord. If you want to use him as a supporter for units like chosen, you could do a cheap version with chainsword and powersword/ claw. He'd have 5 attacks with good AP. Even cheaper would be 2 chainswords for 6 attacks, but with no AP that's probably only worth it if you want to hack your way through an imperial guard regiment.
If you want to go hunting the big things, go for fist and Combimelta.

The best way honestly would be to use some magnets .

You re-roll before modifiers are applied. This means: If you roll a 1, you re-roll, if you roll a 2, you don't re-roll, but the modifier puts you to a 1 afterwards, so you miss.
