They said the release order will be Space Marines, Grey Knights, Chaos Space Marines and then Death Guard.

So why do we have Death Guard teasers and no CSM or GK teasers?

My guess? Because they will get no new models at the moment.

Yep, also my guess. It's also quite possible that Chaos models may be aimed/concentrated toward the four Gods particular forces, and Chaos will be left rotting on the vine - slowly to fade.

Hooray for another edition where the Chaos line remains in edition!

Either GW is going to pump everyone for money by making 5 CSM books (Tzeentch, Nurgle, Slaanesh [but kid friendly, so s/he'll just be the god of LGBT rights], Khorne and Undivided), or they are just going to release a generic CSM book with a few nerfs, a hacksaw taken to the fluff and no updates.

Am I the only one who actually quite likes the current CSM and Terminator models? It appears so. And, hey, I already have as many as I need, so if others want a revamp, then one will come with my good vibes for them.

But a couple of new, cool units and models would be awesome. I just hope they're substantially less 'busy' than the Death Guard models are, which have led me to leave Death Guard for the indefinite future. But nothing a bit of ripping and cutting couldn't fix.

Sisters of Battle: 5500pts
Imperial Agents: 500pts
Tyranids: 5725pts
Khorne Daemons: 3015pts

Gloomspite Gitz: 8030pts
Skaven: 5880pts
Blades of Khorne Daemons: 3980pts
Destruction Mercenaries: 480pts

Their kit is missing half the weapons they need to make a cohesive unit, their head is the size of their entire torso, and their shoulders start at their ears. Once seen, cannot be unseen.

The current CSM models are a travesty. They were acceptable at the time but have not aged well - compared to the current Tactical Squad we're woefully low on options, smaller and far less flexible in build and posing. We need to be at least at that level of detail and complexity to be honest. It's a bit rich that for £3 more you get a kit nearly 3 times as big.

The current Terminators are okay....but suffer from not being able to build a minimum armed squad. We're also lacking weapon options and what options we do have are really few and far between. It could do with a sprue recut and adding some more options.

Now only a CSM player.

Hmm, elsewhere they say:

"Codex: Space Marines will be swiftly followed by the Grey Knights and Chaos Space Marines with Death Guard not far behind. (Yeah, you read that right – the sons of Mortarion are getting their own codex.)"

Looks like we'll have to wait and see who's next.

I think this one is the correct one. It is the more recent, more official (as in more than a FAQ reply) and more hardline comment. And by hardline I mean you can read the FAQ reply as "this and then these three in no particular order" while the one you quoted here is a specific order being listed. Plus, the related image in that post had them in that specific order too.

Starter box contents probably had a big influence on whats being put out first or being previewed first.

In the codex FAQ they actually tell you what marine factions will get codices

I just bought Index: Imperium 1 – what should I do with it?
You’ll want to keep hold of your index. Codex: Space Marines doesn’t include rules for playing with Blood Angels, Dark Angels, Space Wolves, Deathwatch or Grey Knights armies, so you’ll still need Index: Imperium 1 to play with those. You’ll also need it for using some of the more unusual models such as the 30th Anniversary Space Marine, the Legion of the Damned and the Terminus Ultra Land Raider.

We know Grey Knights are coming out, so that means that one of the other 4 will be next.
I'm thinking Blood Angels first, Deathwatch last.

Its quite possible they'll stagger the releases with chaos as well, so that its not completely invalidating an index

Here's what I'm thinking the release schedule will look like.

Space Marines
Grey Knights
CSM
Death Guard
Blood Angels Or Dark Angels or Death Watch or Space Wolves
Blood Angels Or Dark Angels or Death Watch or Space Wolves
A god dedication chaos legion
A god dedication chaos legion
Blood Angels Or Dark Angels or Death Watch or Space Wolves

That's about 10 releases there.

I REALLY doubt there will not be ~2 xenos in the first 10.

Maybe, that is a possibility. Its also possible they will try to get indexes completed one at a time.
If they do spread around the indexes, it might look like something like this
Following the previously mentioned pattern (pairs of armies being released from the same index. with no two pairs from the same index being in succession)

SM
GK
CSM
DG
Xenos 1
Xenos 1
Imperium 2
Imperium 2
Xenos 2
Xenos 2

10 releases.

Well, no it's not, as they're already kicking straight into two different indexes here, but I get your point. They may want to go hard and fast on these two to begin with

Yeah, derp on my part. Poor choice of words
The question is though, how are they going to handle the very tiny factions in Imperium Index 2? Things like Sisters of Silence, inquisition and Custodians?
I'm not really sure how that's going to be adapted into a codex.

"All major factions" are getting codexes according to that FAQ... So if Death Guard is a major faction, what other sub-factions count? Are the other three cult legions getting codexes as well? If so, what does that mean for the CSM codex? Is it only going to include rules for Chaos Undivided? What about the Black Legion, which would almost certainly be on par with the cults in importance?

Reaaally wishing they had talked more about the CSM factions in that FAQ... Now I'm kinda worried about how long I'm going to have to wait for rules for my faction.

they've said we can except to see eldar craftworld rules and necron dynesties so I'd expect a craftworlds and necron codex among the ten this year.

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two
