I'm not talking about the Land Raider or Knight variants, I'm on about the Adeptus Ministorum unit with power swords and storm shields that costs 0.5 power per model and usually gets an extra movement phase that can't be DTW'd
I'm thinking three units, one in a Sororitas Rhino with a Priest, one of the foot ones using an AoF on turn one, the other foot one doing the same and the mounted one disembarking on turn two, turn three there should be at least one unit making contact with enemy lines and kicking out 3A each

I'm going to use Chaos Warriors with all the chaos bits shaved off and a head swap with whatever I have lying about and give them Grey Knight melee weapons.

Well... I have 5 of these, original metal castings. Maybe I should get around to painting them and using them...

I used Blood Bowl Reikland Reavers with power swords and storm shields from the Vanguard Veterans kit, and the bare heads from the Grey Knights kit.
I think they look pretty good, and cost 1.45USD for the base models and already had all the other bits lying around.

I really like this idea as I also want a bunch of CW champion heads for my Word Bearers

From parts. Flagellants chopped at waste. Cadian torso. Skitarii vanguard head. Deathwatch storm shield. From a well stocked bits seller. Won't be cheap.
Budget option: freeguild troopers with their own weapons and shields. Vanguard heads. Some sort of smaller shoulder pads.
3rd party option? Anvil Industry probably has some combination of parts that would work well.

Balance in pick up games? Two people, each with their own goals for the game, design half a board game on their own without knowing the layout of the board and hope it all works out. Good luck with that. The faster you can find like minded individuals who want the same things from the game as you, the better. |

I use SIsters of Silence with their great blades.Fits the part, dual purpose them if you want to actually run them as SoS.
You can usually find them for 20ish/5 on ebay from prospero/box set.

If you wanna get fancy, check out some of the elven infantry. Just replace the elf iconography and perhaps a helmet swap so it's less obvious where they came from.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Yeah, @Sim-Life's definitely proved the concept there, I've already got the CW box set for parts, not sure if I'm going to give them Inquisitorial symbols on their shields like the official Crusaders or make them look like they're following Guilliman as a god.
Heh. I just remembered when the Adeptus Ministorum could field a unit that was literally office clerks with pistols and daggers.

Stormcast Eternals Liberators could work too. They come with shields and swords. They're space marine huge, mind you, but they're well equipped for the Crusader role.

Looks like you already decided, but I just converted mine using legs from the AoS freeblades, and shields from stormcast eternals. My torsos and heads are an amazon non GW...but sharing ideas.

I've used Riekland Reavers from Blood Bowl + Admech Heads + Deathwatch Storm Shields + Power Swords. It's fairly painless to execute and I'm pleased how they came out :-)

I used a bunch of these for crusaders in my old 7th inquisitor list. Shame that doesn't exist anymore... I don't seem to be able to field the old combination of crusaders / psyker choir / jokaeros and other assorted mischief. Well, I think I can, but by using multiple forces? Dunno, I'm still working on Ork conversions right now
