I came back with 8th edition. I used to play wolves, d eldar and nids. Now i am working on painting all my nids.

But on the behalf of my sw I am curius, what is a primaris marine? I know fluff vise. But i saw in the army book. Is it just a fancy sargent?

More expensive Space Marines, essentially. (Edit: More expensive, better defensive stats, better weapons, but much less flexible.)

It depends what type of Primaris Marine you're talking about. Most of the ones out right now, are squads of guys.

Such as the Intercessor Squad, a 5-man squad of Primaris Marines with Bolt-Rifles, no special weapons options. Or the Hellblaster squad, 5-man squad of Primaris Marines with Plasma Incinerators. Inceptor Squad, 3-man squad of Gravis Armor with Jetpack Primaris Marines.

And then there's the various Characters. Four HQ options and 1 Elite. There's still more to come. They can be played alongside your regular Space Marines (but cant use their Rhinos, land raiders, ect) or play them Primaris only army. Doesn't get you any bonuses, and you're footslogging the whole way with more expensive, less-numerous soldiers, but it looks cool

Background wise, they're an evolution of the standard Astartes templates, based on the Emperor's original work, and refined over 10,000 years by Belisaurus Cawl, at the behest of Roboute Guilliman.

Their geneseed is completely stable, all their implanted organs function, and they have three new ones, designed by Cawl.

Beyond that, we're really awaiting the Codex to find out more. Though it seems the novel Dark Imperium is worth reading.

The Dark Imperium novel felt like a glorified sales pitch for Primaris honestly. I like the character interaction and such, but the combat scenes felt weak. Like the only purpose of the fighting in the book, was to show you what the current and upcoming Primaris Marine units did, such as the Aggressor and Reiver.

Are they i the sm index? What is the name of the squad. I scanned it, only found a character.

They are in Index: Imperium 1, intermingled with the Vanillia Space marine entries.

For the squads, the only place it's mentioned they're Primaris, is in the Keyword section of their entry.

There are two other characters that aren't in the Index, as they were released after it.
Primaris Captain.
Primaris Librarian.

Ancient is an honorific title for the Chapter Banner Bearer.

Ancient is the title given to Standard Bearers now. Theres been a major change to how Command Squads and equivalents are set up. The man with the Flag is now it's own character, with a different buff, and a bunch more wounds. So, there are Company Ancients for the regular Space Marines as well as Terminator Ancients. Grey Knights get their own Terminator Ancient, as well as Paladin Ancient.

I do not know how this will effect your Space Wolves army, as I do not play them, and have not looked in detail through their entries.

Agressors, which seem like the bastard child of a Devastator and a Terminator, but not quite a Centurion. Also it's Primaris Flavored. I can't wait to see their rules

they are a mistake

They're what Space Marines should have always been.

It is a plan by GW to get all those Space Marine players out there to rebuy their armies. In the more immediate future than some of the people in this thread estimate, standard Space Marines will be a thing of the past.

Not for me i'll quit again before i rebuy my entire army, fekke that nonsense.

Or say that the old models are counts as.
