Your ideal 40k ruleset will never come out.

GW is a horrible company.

They are actively opposing themselves to your interests.

They don't care about what you want the game to look like.

Every dollar you give to GW just furthers their ability to mock you and give you more rulesets that will anger you.

Boycott GW.

Actually, I like the vast majority of what they've done over the past 18 months. I intend to spend a lot more money on Games Workshop products in the near future.

Do you like the conscripts + commissars combination?

Do you like their decision to release hardcover codices?

Do you like the balance between the space marine chapter tactics?

Please, be specific. What in particular do you like?

This. I'm annoyed by the butchering of the fluff, but the rules and miniatures are better than they've ever been.

I think many people are still skeptical. I only bought one new model and one index.

At its current state, 40k IS good. If they want to bloat it up, fine, whatever, i will play only at the index level.

The fluff, i don't care that much about. I enjoy reading the occasional story, but whoever wins, if anyone ever does even, i really don't care.

I think the next few months will really show if GW have improved in their rules department.

We don't need "the next few months."

We already know that conscripts and commissars exist.

We already know that Ravenguard and Salamanders chapter tactics are going to exist.

We already know that GW is going to do hardcover codices after having already charged money for indices not too long ago.

We have decades of consumer experience from GW.

They are a terrible company.

What counterargument could you possibly make?

I don't know. I haven't played with/against it.

Do you like their decision to release hardcover codices?

No. I don't like this. I probably won't buy them.

Do you like the balance between the space marine chapter tactics?

I don't know. I am a very casual gamer admittedly.

Please, be specific. What in particular do you like?

There's really a lot of stuff I like, so I don't really want to list off everything, but I suppose I mostly like the fundamentals, ie. the model ranges are great, I love the universe & background lore, and the new core rules are almost perfect for someone trying to get to grips with the game without be frightened off by a gigantic bible of complex rules.

Well, at least you've openly admitted the level of honesty of your poll threads this time.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Then you are speaking from ignorance.

I believe that the common player consensus (excepting, of course, IG players) is that commisars + conscripts = cheese.

No. I don't like this. I probably won't buy them.

The codices are literally required to play the game.

You dislike the fact that they are hardcover.

You likely won't buy them.

But you still like the company?

Explain this to me.

I don't know. I am a very casual gamer admittedly.

All of the chapter tactics are on the warhammer community webpage. Look them up.

I mean, if you're just interested in an interesting background and universe and an interesting ruleset, then great, GW is great.

However, if you care about literally anything else, GW has a proven track record of anti-consumer failure since the moment they began to exist.

Just select one of the options. Literally either one.

You know that you agree with both of them.

You dislike the fact that they are hardcover.

I dislike the added expense of hardcover.

Yes.

I don't particularly like the company, but I don't dislike them either. I just like the products they sell.

I can't add much about anti-consumer, but I think it's hardly accurate to call them a failure. Aren't they like the biggest miniature tabletop gaming company in the world?

The sole reason they are the biggest etc. company is because they are the oldest and have the greatest name recognition.

The other side to this is that their consumer base seems almost universally to hate them.

If you have an apparent monopoly, and your consumer base hates you, your possession of a monopoly doesn't make you any less hated.

Why do you need verification if you are already so convinced of the irrevocableness of your position?
Why are you still so invested if you are boycotting GW since the first time you brought the topic up?

The only thing I don't like is the portion of the player base dedicated to turning a game into a math problem. Most of the stuff that's currently a problem in game balance isn't until some asshat decides to make their whole army out of it. And even then it's better than 7th - I'd take the influence a single 8th Ed stormraven has over the game to a 7th Ed wraithknight.

Chapter tactics, whatever. Some space sues get worse free gak than others, boo hoo. I'm fine with codexes in general, I'll be impressed when I see the first non-chapter tactic that gives something to somebody other than the perpetually overstuffed faction.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"
