Can't see my Sisters of Battle there - I still love thier models - also no Imperial Knights - also a big win for me.

Voted AdMech, Dark Eldar and Harlequins.

While the other ones may have more flash and bling, these three have more of a unified style that is just enough to convey their personality, but not overtly goudy.

I would have put T-Sons, Grey Knights and Tau in there as well if it wasn't for (respectively) Magnus's Nipple horns, the Dreadknight Baby Carrier, and the Stormsurge mega-chicken.

Voted Ad Mech (very cool)
Astra (Krieg)
CSM (conversion potential)

Love very much all Eldar and Orks, and the Catholic Space Nazi style of Black Templars, sisters and Inquisition.

But there isn't a single army in 40k that I don't like at least a bit.
I just find the wolves excessive (yes, even for 40k) and too many marines kill it.
But I like marines too.

Generic characters disappearing? Elite units of your army losing options and customizations? No longer finding that motivation to convert?

I'm surprised Ad mech is doing so well. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the look of dune crawlers and rangers/vanguard, but didn't expect currently sitting in first place for them

I thought it was a well established fact all Sisters players hate all the their models. So why bother adding them?

Lol. Even in comprehensive polls like this we're not included.

On topic, Terminators of all kinds, Guard vehicles in general, and Adeptus Mechanicus as a faction. I nominated Blood Angels as that's what I'm using, but I want to make sure it's clarified that I specifically mean Terminator models. They're just so fething awesome looking. BA termies are some of the best of the terminator models, but almost ALL termie models look good, even old ones like Mr. Badass Chaplain.

Vigo. Spain.

Thousand Sons, Tau and Adeptus Mechanicus.
The Skitarii are beautifull, same for the Thousand Sons.
If I have not started an army of them is basically because I already play with a very shooty army (Tau) and a Marine Army (Dark Angels), plus, I don't like armies with so little options like Thousand Sons.
Maybe in the future...

EDIT: I agree with Melissia. Terminators are the most cool looking unit in all of 40k. At first I didn't liked too much the old patterns like Tartaros and Cathapracti but after buying, building and painting the, I fall in love with them. So now I love all three Terminator styles

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

My vote went with dark eldar, for obvious reasons, necron a, for their vehicles and my desire to make them steam punk, and dark angels, specifically for the deathwing knights.

I also love the paint scheme of the space wolves, but if I do end up getting a second army it will likely be necrons

We are, by far, the best models GW makes. You cannot compete with a pipe organ on crawler tracks.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

Voted Deathwatch, Eldar, and SOME (not all) Tsons. I rate models not just on looks but their colour schemes too, which is what I've rated them for.

Deathwatch have the best designed Marine stuff, and black is a real joy to look at once you've got the look down. Also Corvus Blackstar is best Imperial vehicle hands down.

Eldar units, specifically the Wraith units, look sleek and lend themselves to bright colour schemes. Also some of the FW grav tanks look great.

Finally, some of the Tsons. The Greater Daemon is one of the best models in recent memory for me, the textures are just unreal on the feathers compared to the actual body. I only like some of it though, like the Horrors look pretty crap if I'm honest, though I don't think I like any of the basic Daemons. Anyway, Magnus is an equally stunning model and would be my go to Chaos army if I ever made one.

If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!

Armies, in order of aesthetic preference:
Sisters of Battle
Imperial Guard
Adeptus Mechanicus
Grey Knights
Dark Eldar
Orks
Tyranids
Space Wolves
Dark Angels
Space Marines
Blood Angels
Chaos Space Marines
Tau
Imperial Knights
Harlequins
Craftworld Eldar
Chaos Daemons

I wasn't sure if Eldar or Daemons was my least favorite army aesthetically. I'm still not sure.

The thing is, most armies I can point to exactly what I don't like about them, but I can't put my finger on why I don't like Daemons. Probably because they look like [and are] high fantasy models imported into a sci-fi setting without even an attempt to make them look remotely like they belong in a sci-fi setting. Eldar I don't like because of the general curvy and streamlined look about them. I also really don't like their walkers, which, on top of the fact that I don't like walkers, have thin, spindly legs and look very organic.

When it comes to Tau, I'm very divided. Fire Warriors and Drones look pretty decent, as do Hammerheads and the old Broadside models, but then we get into things like the new Broadsides and Riptides and they just really make me dislike them.

I love the Sisters of Battle above all by a large margin, and IG, GK, and Admech compete for third. The IG's got the tanks though, and I love Baneblades and Macharii and Leman Russes and Basilisks, so it beats out GK and Admech.

Have to agree with you about T'au. I considered doing a Tau list before, but it was going to be strictly Fire Warriors, Hammerheads, Piranhas and drones, and maybe some droneports. The suits look funny to me, like someone put a transformer on the table or something, though I can understand why others would be into them.
Also, agree with you about Eldar to some extent. I probably don't like the big walkers for the same reason I don't like the T'au suits, looks too much like a giant walking around on the table and not a correctly scaled game of miniatures battling in a landscape. Though, to me it's also some of the Eldar helmets that turn me off while their tanks & flyers are pretty sexy looking.

I would place Harlequins and Daemons on the bottom.

The one that I have the most trouble judging is Orks. When I look at Ork bits, I think they look pretty awesome, but I've never seen orks painted in a way that didn't seem over the top silly. i know Orks is supposed ta be silly, but I feel like if someone painted them with dark brown skin, no checker patterns/bright colours and didn't incorporate ponytails or the like, they could actually look pretty sinister and badass. Especially a bunch of boyz in some Truks with Warbuggys.

Of all marine variants chaos marines i think embody that heavy metal album cover aesthetic that all giant shoulder pad men seem to aspire to. Spiked plates and scarred, grimacing faces haloed by muzzle flashes has pretty much always been the thumbnail image of 40k as a hobby and its overall grimdark visual themes.

Orkz get 2nd because they're simply iconic, pretty much every fictional depiction of an orc post 40k feels like it's channeling the same self destructive lantern jawed archetype, and the vague 'made from junk' theme for their gear and vehicles is both unifying and endlessly variable.

3rd was a close heat between nids and eldar. I'm giving it to eldar, even though the nid line brings a more diverse look to a setting rife with humanoids with guns. The eldar, despite being just space elves thematically, have a really unique style of geometric shapes and flowing metals that makes them feel like a really truly alien culture. You look at the eldar line and it's almost like you already know what the rooms and hallways of a craftworld look like in your mind's eye, what the skewed morality lesson of a harlequin play might be, how a wraith construct ambulates.

I voted:

Astra Militarum - mostly for their tanks, but the DKoK models are achingly beautiful models.

Adeptus Custodes - Just the sheer amount of detail on them is brilliant. Also, still a better sure sulfur than the Primaris Marines :p

Necrons - TOMB SENTINEL. A GIANT METAL BAWKS EATING METAL CENTIPEDE OF DESTRUCTION.
