Okay, I don't understand. Why the feth did GW limit lictors to 1 from them being able to be fielded as 1-3? Is there some broken/powerful combo they can achieve if they can be fielded in more numbers than one? An opponent who isn't a fool is going to make sure that a single lictor never makes it to hand-to-hand combat to fight their character. And I find it doubtful that a 4-wound, toughness 4, 5+ save model is going to kill a enemy character of any significance. And this is the only assassin/sniper model available to Tyranids...

It never ends well

Nottingham (yay!)

TBH they're not really assassins (save for Deathleaper, who is fairly capable against support characters) but more like commandos. Build a list with units that are happy to go second when setting up after the enemy army has committed to its deployment (T-fexes, Exocrines), take a bunch of Lictors, deploy them first in hiding, and your opponent has got to deploy very conservatively - and the minute a critical unit is exposed, you can throw a bunch of re-rolled charges at it to deny it shooting next turn.

Instead of taking up a single force org slot, a trio of Lictors enable a HQ choice to give you an extra CP. Being solitary types, that might be handy once the Codex drops - they could be taken with a Magus to counter Aggressors and the like, without compromising a detachment's <Hive Fleet> purity.

Because with detachments it doesn't really matter. Slots aren't as limited as they used to be.

Wake. Rise. Destroy. Conquer.
We have done so once. We will do so again.

Originally they had a 0-1 limit to the 1-3 thing, meaning you could only field 3 of them in total in your army.

I think GW is just going back to their roots.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.

It very much does matter, there is a limit to the amount of detachments you can take in matched play.

I am going to suspect they will become 1-3 per FoC Slot again when the codex comes around.
