How is IG Armor Company doing this edition? I read a bat rep about a Marines player whoes army was nothing but a Landraider and some Predators. That makes me think that Armor Company might do fairly well.

Russes are useless.

If you want to spam armor, Dunecrawlers would be a better choice. Especially with a Dominus to heal them.

The Russ just isn't paying for itself in my games. The cannon is too unpredictable. I run one as Pask and one as a TC and even then they really aren't worth the points. I mainly keep them in my army as fluffy LOS blockers.

Also, the Baneblade gets -1 to shoot any of its heavy weapons when it moves and has a normal BS of 4+. So it can sit still and miss half the time, or move and miss even more. Why it doesn't have POTMS is a mystery.

I wouldn't say useless, just overpriced.
They're quite tough, but their offensive capabilities are abit lackluster.

I'd say Armoured Company is certainly viable. It probably won't win any tournaments, but it's still viable.

Leman Russes may be mediocre, but Hellhounds, Wyverns, Basilisks, Manticores, Taurox Primes are all good choices.

Isn't the Baneblade a Super Heavy? I won't agree to games with Super Heavies.

In my experience armies with a Super Heavy beat armies without a Super Heavy every time. This leads to a situation where you field a Super Heavy and win, or don't field a Super Heavy and NEVER win.

Just like the addition of flyers to the game lead to spam flyers and win, or don't spam flyers and never win.

All of this, of course, just being GWs plan to milk every last cent possible out of its player base by making units that Rock Paper Scissors each other, and all the newest stuff is Rock. and Paper has been discontinued.

Sorry if I sound bitter. It's just that I've been burned by GW so many times that, well, I'm bitter.

Variable number of shots suuuucks as guard.

Pask, meltas, lascannons. At least I know exactly what Im getting.

Demolisher? D3 shots. And somehow always roll 1.

Once you get stuck into close combat youre hooped. Or if any objectives are on any upper level of ruins.

I've had that mindset as well since I started playing in late third.
Then 8th Ed. arrived and my view of Super Heavies (or Titanics/Lord of War) changed entirely.

Superheavies are mostly fine in 8th Ed, since everything (i.e. every list) can theoretically kill them, and because they get hurt and degrade just like regular vehicles, except of course that they have a larger health pool (but also cost substantially more.)

One of my IG Superheavies is the Macharius Heavy Tank.
It's a "light" Super Heavy, which costs slightly more two fully kitted out LRBT's, is easier to kill (22 HP vs 12+12 HP), and shoots about as good as two LRBT's. If my opponent called it cheezy I would throw a shoe at him.

Baneblades are heavier and 'tankier' than a Macharius, but they also cost *alot* more. I think my Stormlord costs ~650 pts. 650 pts of Leman Russes is way harder to kill than a Baneblade-chassi.

Once you get stuck into close combat youre hooped.

That's why you bring Eversor Assassins to stab the enemy in the throat, or Bullgryns who smash them in the face, or Rough Riders/Death Riders who pierce them like kebab.
I've never understood the dread many IG-players have towards close combat, but then I've always fielded close-combat elements of my own when I play IG.

Superheavies are actually on the low end of the power spectrum in this edition. Remember when we did the number crunching and found that an equivalent points of Conscripts, Platoon Commanders and Commissars can not only survive the onslaught of a Warlord titan, but actually stands a chance of taking it down in about 3 turns via disco light show? That was both hilarious and a sad day.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.
