I'll be PMing people their new coordinates today. I would have already done it but I needed sleep last night. :-)

Made me explore anyway and found some nice stuff. Turns out Absolutionis' citadel has interesting stuff around it besides the village it had an above ground zombie dungeon in the desert next to it.

Hm. With all the communication errors, I can't tell when the server is up or down....

There is still the list page for showing the server status:
http://www.dakkadakka.com/s/i/new/list.txt

Hopefully they'll fix the invalid key bug when they get back from Vegas.

For others who don't read previous pages in the thread:
NOTE that there is a very annoying bug in Minecraft 1.0, when you try to join a server you often get:
"The server responded with an invalid key"

I have found the best solution to this is to just keep trying the "Direct Connect" option with the IP address (not web2.dakkadakka.com) - 178.63.68.200

This seems to avoid the "End of Stream" error you get for 60 seconds if you try to use the server list.

Found some pumpkins, surrounded my new home with giant red mushrooms so I could find it easier. Now to work on a pumpkin farm and lay the basis of a melon farm down.

My pumpkin farm works perfectly. So will my melon farm when I finish it now

Though the randomly teleporting endermen are really annoying me, they're ruining my farm.

Make the roof only two high if you can. Endermen are three blocks tall...

Could someone be a rather sterling trooper and help old Wolfie out here I need someone to come to the pyramid and bravely slaughter the monsters and light the hideously large dark area !

Coordinates are: x=-660 z=880

Cheers

Well here we go:
http://www.darkinnit.com/dakkamap

Lets see how well my domain's bandwidth limit holds out.

This map is of the world as I uploaded it last night. It is limited to a radius of 2000 and you can show/hide player positions, portals, signs that begin and end with ~ or - and some other things. Note the bed locations are still from the old server so ignore them, they will work properly as people's bed locations are updated.

Well, I wanted one of them secret, hehe. It'd be hidden from a satalite view anyway. The other one I'm okay with others finding.

As long as my bandwidth limit holds out, I will consider expanding the radius. You can't see the three snow biomes on that radius, but they're at the left, bottom and right corners.

What's the crash? Out of memory?

Try using the instructions on my FAQ to adjust the memory to different amounts to see what works.

Try 64-bit java if you have 64-bit Windows.

Ol' Blighty

there's a new error message that people have been getting lots recently when they disconnect from servers. Just reload the page and keep spamming refresh.

JB: I like the concept of a free Shrike roaming through the treetops of the jungle. I'm not sure that I like the idea of a real Shrike sitting on my couch eating my Skittles.
corpsesarefun: Thank god I missed be nice to shrike day.
greenskin lynn: because of all the skittles and soda, you basically live off sugar water, like some sort of freakish human-hummingbird hybrid.

I keep getting "read time out" errors and sometimes get invalid key errors, or "end of stream" ones. Errors really do bug me >_<

Is there any sort of rule regarding NPC villages? As in can I just claim one or two of the buildings for myself or are they public property?

I'm personally not entirely sure. I "claimed" an NPC village near my transferred building, but that "claim" was only to put a fence around it, corral the villagers inside, and keep the place as preserved as possible.

Please don't hurt the villagers.

That being said, people have been finding a rather large quantity of NPC villages and I recall one person went on an NPC slaughter-spree.

I think that was me, though the spree was three villagers to see if they'd respawn or dropped anything. Not sure about the respawning, but they definitely drop nothing.

I think that NPC villages should be inviolate. Keep em preserved and lit, add chests and so forth for public use as well so that people enjoy it.

Also work has to be done on their farms to keep them going as they lack the ability to do it themselves. They'll just happily jump all over it and kill them when they can be a good source of food while travelling, something that is important while the nether system is built up.
