What army or army list it's from might help. I don't even recognize the name, which makes me suspect forge world.

Somewhere.

I think most people used a Renegade Rogue Psyker or a conversion from the Warhammer Warriors of Chaos range. I don't recall ever seeing a model, but I might be wrong there.

So... forge world?

Yeah. It's basically a weaker but chaotic version of the Imperial Guard, and has access to most of the same toys. Although Plague Ogryns are funny...

Malefic Lords are one of the nastier units, being dirt cheap Psykers who go all Daemonhost if they suffer a Perils of the Warp. They're cheap enough to stick one with most of your units, if you're so inclined.

I was in the same boat 2 weeks ago. Google search turned up not so great results.

I grabbed this set off ebay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Warzone-Resurrection-PIC101908-Dark-Legion-Mutant-Chronicles-RPG-Models-Heretics-/142165277843?epid=525841998&hash=item2119b5fc93:g:zOsAAOSwB09YFik4

They are the perfect size, come with 5 dudes that pass for the Malefic Lord, or can be used as a Rogue Psyker Coven. You have to trim some guns off them, but no big deal. Quality is not bad for the price and the poses are mostly cool.

I use Tzeentch Magisters from Silver Tower.

Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.

I have a problem.

Being contrary for the sake of being contrary doesn't make you unique, it makes you annoying.

I am also interested in the Renegades & Heretics list. Is it required to use the forgeworld conversion models or can we just modify Imperial Guard with chaos bits?

Generally forgeworld armies expect you to convert s good number of units. Try to keep it wysiwyg with options and I doubt anyone will care. I used to use some of my admech last edition, as part of a heretek list.
