Hey all! I'm looking to do a 40k based conversion, and I am looking for a mech walker tank type of thing to use in the kitbash.

The kind of thing I'm looking to make is like this -

This does exist as a model, but seems to be discontinued, so in order to buy it I'd have to import from the USA which is pretty expensive.

So I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas? The model is about 6" or so long, my final model I plan to make would be a bit bigger than a land raider kind of size. So anything (preferably cheap to source) that I can get walker style legs from in an appropriate size?

If a whole model is available to use in the kitbash that would be cool, but if I just end up with some legs I could happily kitbash them onto a rhino chassis and work from there.

The legs could be from a 4 legged walker, or two 2-legged ones, as long as they are the right kind of size...

Thanks for any ideas!

Yea, dust is expensive. the walker you look at as a kit costs 50$ u.s. not counting for shipping and whatever possible tax you have in us.
they have another one whit 6 legs at the same pricetag..

Check out konflikt 47 from warlord games, same style of game.
they have a few walkers, but not many and it is in 28mm scale.

Where are you? The model you posted is available for $27+shipping from several sites. International shipping is indeed a pain in the butt though...

United Kingdom. I can get it from ebay for $60 total delivered, which isnt terrible and may be my final option if nothing else comes up. There also seems to be a "PRINZLUTHER/STURMPRINZ" transport, that seems to use the same legs, which I can get for $10 cheaper, but I'm not sure if its actually the same size or not as I cant find a comparison. The legs look the same though.

?

quad legs

top tank turret.

split the leg mount in half and extend it to make it longer if you need to.

I can say those legs are the same size and are actually interchangeable. The whole leg structure is separate from the top body piece.

I did consider this, but i believe it's dreadnaught sized? Which would be too small I think.

edit: final model would be about 6" long and 4-5" tall

Its way bigger than a dread. ok maybe not way bigger bit it is big.

That base alone is 130 mm diameter.

a dread comes on a 60.

I realise there's no point me being so secretive about what I'm attempting to build lol, and it might help you guys if you know. I'm looking to build a Mek Ork Squiggoth (the normal size one, not the gargantuan, though I may make one of each eventually depending on what I find).

The squiggoth is the same length and a bit taller than a Trukk. I can't find any photos of a Dunecrawler next to any kind of tank, so it's ahrd to see what size it is. If it's only a little too small, I could make the legs longer/chunkier by adding dredd feet to the ends I guess.

Just seeing this thread has rekindled my passing interest in making a not-ridiculous looking Defiler for my not-Chaos army.

I would also go with the defiler as a basis.

Or one of these things

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Is the defiler bigger than the onager?

Ahhhh... did that used to be called a soul grinder? I was looking that up warlier and couldn't find anything, but maybe I was looking up the wrong name

Edit: Seems they're both things, just with the same legs. Interesting. Though I also can't find any second hand defilers, or legs-bits in stock. Buying a whole defiler might be doable, but not much different to importing the heavy tank... will have to make a choice

The defiler came first and then the soul grinder showed up as a variant for daemon armies.
