my tyranids have an insectoid theme with their wings. like im using small dragonfly wings for the gargoyles. and the plague drone wings for my hive tyrant and shrikes. what i need now is a larger wing for harpies and crones. im just not a huge fan of the bat wings the FMCs use. any suggestions?

The new Mortarion model, when it drops soon. You'll probably be able to find them on bitsandkits.com or other bits sellers.

Good luck with the price and availability of that lol.

You should, like a real tyranid, go out and hunt real dragonflies and assimilate their wings onto your models.

Customising models is never cheap or easy. I suggest Mortarian as he just dropped and he has perfectly sized insectoid wings for the purpose.

Untrue. I customize tons of gak. Often my fully customized models cost less then buying the GW models off the shelf. Thanks Ebay! I built my exocrines for about 25.00 a piece. But getting just mortarion wings... not even knowing what that bit will be, is going to be a nightmare for a long time coming. I would expect no less than 20 USD per set of wings. If you can find them at all.

I said never cheap or easy. It can be cheap, but its difficult to find parts. Or its easy to find parts, but costs you. Just depends on what you want to do. I just threw out Mortarion wings. They fit the profile. Not my concern for price or availability.

I remember someone doing a Nurgle Helldrake conversion for which the four bigger whing elements were inverted, so they mount at the tip and rounded over at the wide end, resulting in a dragonfly look.
It should be possible to attack the edges of the laticework with a dremel to make it more organic.
Alternatively, just grab styrene sheet goods, cut to size, warp with heat as desired (approx 160 degrees C, i.e. heat gun) and apply green stuff piping to decorate. For smaller lines a scraping or scoring tool should work also.

After looking at the helldrake wings...i could see them working beautifly... and only about 20 bucks per wing set for large and small will be great some dremel work and green stuffing will make them perfect...
