Nottingham (yay!)

I'm finishing a sculpt tonight, I want to put on a layer of varnish to help the rivets adhere well and solid before I apply paints, if I apply if before the gs sets will I have a disaster in the morning?

Im fairly certain it would be ok since GS can cure underwater and so doesnt need to be exposed to air.

but then im not sure if uncured GS would react to varnish or its thinners.
