What could I do to convert the below for IG veterans?

If I did, would they look good?

I believe they are the same basic size as the IG plasma guns so it wouldn't be an issue. They'll look large and bulky but they do anyway when a Guardsman holds one - even the actual IG plasma guns.

It would just be a case of snipping off the pistol grip and stock on the SM ones, then clipping off a lasrifle from a Cadian arm - leaving just the hand with pistol grip and the rear stock. You'd then be able to slot the Plasma Gun into this gap with a bit of filing down to make it all snug. I've done similar things before and it does work, but as with any conversion be prepared to do some filing and you may want some GS incase there's any gaps etc.

Plus, I think they actually look better than the GW plasmas.

I just worry about the Kromlech models not being useable in a GW tournament.

The chances that anyone will notice are slim. If anyone asks, simply shrug and say you found them in your bitz box while converting (for bonus honesty points, leave in bitz box for five minutes before use). With all the editions, changes and models over the years, most GW staff have no idea what half there stuff looks like.

In each Cadian sprue there is one set of arms where the left hand isn't attached to the lasgun, you can cut the lasgun off the right arm, including the stock, and fit a Space Marine plasma gun, like this:



The other option, which I haven't tried yet, but should work is to use the grenade launcher/flamer arms; a small hole in the side of the plasma gun should allow you to fit the side handle. That's how the ones from the HQ squad are designed.

One thing that's remained pretty constant for a long time now is the design of plasma weaponry used by the Imperials. I'm not sure those ones would fly under the radar for long. If tournament eligibility is even the slightest concern I don't think its worth it.

Forge world do some nice Guard plasma weapons in the elysian and krieg weapons packs. Or there are the hostel environment cadians.

I had considered the hostile environment cadians, but between their cost and the lack of legs, they seem too expensive

There was a conversion where people would take the top part of the combi plasma and kit bash that onto a lasgun stock.
