Hello,

Regarding detachment keywords... As long as the detachment units share the same key word (ex. Imperium) does it matter what codex/index the unit is from?

For example, can a single detachment have Grey Knights and Imperial Guard in it (ex. Draigo and a squad of Guardsmen), or would you have to have two separate detachments, one for Imperial Guard and one for Grey Knights (ex. Draigo/Paladins and Commissar/Guardsmen) to play them together?

Thank you,
Kyle

You can mix, but lose access to possible special abilities the Codexes grant to 'pure' Detachments. Your GK Codex will tell you more about that.

I was just looking at this last night as I try to fit Voldus and a squad of Paladins into my Blood Angels army.

You are right, a single detachment can have Grey Knights and Imperial Guard in it.

And Johnny is right too.

However...

If you have Draigo, a Paladin Squad (of 3), a Paladin Ancient and a Paladin Apothecary, this will allow you to create a "pure", as Johnny says, Vanguard Detachment, meaning those GK special abilities and things will then apply to your Grey Knights, you'll get +1 Cp and access to Grey Knight stratagems (some of which are awesome)......

If your Imperial Guard contingent can fit into another type of detachment (even a Patrol Detachment), then your army remains Battle Forged, plus you'll have access to the GK abilities, stratagems, etc.

As I understand it anyway?...
