I have this idea for a chapter, and I was wondering if I might solicit feedback on how this might change the nature of the chapter.

It's a fleet-based chapter, with more Drop Pods than normal in their fleet, being their preferred means of attack. Codex-compliant organization, but Centurion squads are a basic troop choice. The idea is that Centurions are commonly deployed. My analysis is that "always" Centurion presence will lead the Chapter into more of a Zone Mortalis and shock attack role, as the application of overwhelming power favors the lightning assault. This somewhat de-emphasises Terminator armor, since "pretty darn" good is always around.

I was hoping you all might provide some feedback on your own thoughts as to how this would influence the Chapter known as the War Wolves. I'm hoping Centurions can be deployed via Drop Pods, and our fleet has above-average numbers of drop pods for lightning assault for the sheer visual awesomeness. If I'm wrong, how might we deploy?

You've got something of a conflict of ideas going on. Nothing game-breaking, but it does need some work. The conflict is your love of lightning assault and love of Centurions.

Centurions are described as "brutal yet ponderous specialists typically deployed as line breakers and besiegers — where haste is less important than durability." Their role tends to be against a static fortification or some other slow and stationary target, and usually those Centurions are well supported by more agile and tactically flexible Tactical squads/Veterans. Also, they are not quick. Another quote:

"A Centurion Devastator Squad's only real weakness is its lack of speed, for whilst they can outgun entire squads of enemy infantry, they are easily outpaced by the fast-moving elements of a foe's strike force. Thus, they are primarily employed to besiege defended enemy positions or to defend their own fortifications, or used as mobile firebases to strengthen advancing battle lines."

So the original idea of drop pod lightning quick Centurions is not going to work in its current form. However, what I would do is expand your force to support those Centurions well. The fast elements of your army will be Tacticals/Veterans deploying via Drop Pod to either support the Assault Centurions, or to secure a fire point for the Devastators.

i agree with your points but it could work as a horrifically deadly surprise attack combined with their firepower and durability it would cause a lot of damage maybe cause less allied casualties

That's a good point, and I hadn't considered that. Let me amend my question thusly.

"With an otherwise standard Chapter but making Centurion squads a basic troop choice I see there being a definite slant in how it wages war. I see it making Zone Mortalis and shock assault the preferred methods. Can others here provide their thoughts on how this would affect Chapter in terms of vehicle selection or operational concerns?". My idea is kind of similar to the original War Hounds and Death Guard, application of overwhelming force.

making centurions troops is something I'd advise against. 8th ed seems over all to be moving away from "X is a troop for this"

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two
