I'm going to second Blood+. It's a vampire anime, but you don't really realize it until a few episodes in. It's not the traditional angsty pale-fest, or completely taken over with gorebloodmonstering (though there's a bit of that).

Trinity Blood is another (honestly, just do a search for anime with ''blood" in the name) where the main character is a vampire in the employ of a world-dominating Catholic Church. There's an android with pistol auto-loaders in his arms, giant 3-bladed scythes, and many, many fantastic hats.

GENERATION 8: The first time you see this, copy and paste it into your sig and add 1 to the number after generation. Consider it a social experiment.

Blood+ is a good one yes, but skip Blood-C I think it was called. That one was Weak.

Trinity Blood wasnt bad either, at least until you get to the non-ending that doesn't really wrap up anything, like they were expecting to make more of it.

Oh yeah I kind of hated that =/

Legend of Legendary Heroes did that in a bad way, I think it was probably just an effort to get people to buy the light novels.

So far i've seen all but the latest episode of parasyte. It's such a fantastic anime. In fact the extent of how f**ked up it is makes it that much better. I'm surprised this show isn't getting more of a following. That said the manga was from 1990 and i don't know if they would've shown something like that back then (probably but it'd be fairly graphic). Anime these days just don't seem to have the quality of stuff like 'parasyte'. I dunno maybe back then there was more high school beat-em-up/fighting type anime and these days it's all about harems and crap. Ugh.

I've been meaning to watch both 'supernatural' and the 'supernatural' animated series. I get the feeling i'd love both.

I like Supernatural alright. I think I somewhat prefer the Buffy approach to evil and monsters as opposed to supernatural's, but I have still had fun watching it. Buffy has that stuff as more of a gray area, at least on some cases, Supernatural pretty well runs with the "if it's red it's dead" style, helpful ghosts will still get put to rest, only half evil vampires will still get decapitated, monsters mostly not harming people and 'just trying to get by' are still executed, etc etc. It's not a huge thing, most of what they go up against is pretty black and white anyway.

Yeah Supernatural has been getting on my nerves in terms of that. It could be someone eating like a small amount of food, and boom headshot by Dean.

It really pisses me off sometimes.

But yeah anyway fun fun fun.

Definitely lots of "Badass Moments" although they do tend to talk about their feelings too You gotta love the episodes where their Not-Selves exist in books and they learn of the existence of fan fiction

I like it better when they get killed and then I end the episode.

Though I have been watching Jormungand. They go through many characters in a few episodes.

anime in the 80s and 90s was much...more violent and extreme and just generally awesome.
I saw the remake of Fist of the North Star and it was garbage.

Ok, I'm looking for something fairly actiony, character driven, maybe something that fits in with the animes I listed a my top 5?
also, highschool of the dead was terrible, I think I liked it at the time because back then I had watched barely any anime, and didn't know how bad it was.
I watched the first episode of that supernatural anime on a whim, god that voices...
I really need a sugestion, I've just been watching steins;gate again and again (from like 2 in the morning to like ten at night) . Man, I love holidays, but I wish I could actually get out and do something. I have a friend over and am making him watch steins;gate.
Yamada's first time, AKA b gata h kei, I have watched. The weird/scary part being that it was my girlfrined who suggested I watch it.

I don't know why you're being like this about it... 80's had many more blood fountains happening then the 90's. That doesn't mean it didn't happen in 90's.

I remember the 80s animes and 80s action films, the gore was tremendously over done. Plus it didn't make sense half the time XD

Either I would Suggest Black Butler or Baccano!

I agree Highschool of The Dead had great animation but most of it was wasted on panty shots and boob shots.

Yamada's First Time was kind of weird to start off and embrassing to watch while I'm at home with my parents.
