Hey y'all!

So my ideas for my in-progress dark mechanicum army are coming along pretty nicely, and I already have a couple of conversion projects lines up which will keep me busy for... probably forever, but still, I have thought of another idea that I'd like to see at least written up in plan form for future reference.

So it's easy enough to make sorcerers and chaos lords out of warpsmiths, Dominus and/or Cawl models, so I'm fine for the standard characters. But I'm considering the idea of a daemon prince, and so am thinking about how I could make a daemon prince sized model that looks fitting.

So I thought I would ask on here for any advice, as there are a LOT of models out there in the world, and maybe theres some that would be suitable (at least as a base) for a conversion.

I'm not yet sure if I would go wings or wingless... which obviously makes it a little trickier.

One thing I considered is using a Dragoon as a base, but I think it'd be a bit big.

Thoughts?

I don't have any suggestions for the base model, but the lasher whips from the Maulerfiend would make good mechandrils, and anyone with a Forgefiend will have a spare set.

For wings maybe a big jetpack? (Image is not mine):

I'd think for a Dark Mechanicum Daemon Prince you'd want to go for a full-on Archimandrite massive battle robot thing; I'd suggest starting from a Kastelan and going wild with the mechadendrites (lash weapons off the Maulerfiend definitely, but a bunch of little ones the way most of the high-ranking techpriests are covered in would be a good idea too). As for wings I don't have a picture of an Artalax (jump melee Cybernetica cortex-bot from the Heresy rules that doesn't have a model yet), but I can speculate from the Ursarax (jump-melee Thallaxii) that it's going to be that sort of single big central thruster on a slightly more hunched-forward body.

Yeh, a big jetpack might work, it's what I was thinking about too. Also lasher whips, but I've been unable to find any on any bitz stores, and I don't know anyone who collects chaos so it'll be hard for me to get hold of lasher tendrils. I really need some!

I might pick up one of the big forgeworld robots as a base -

https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Iron-Circle-Domitar-Ferrum-Battle-automata - Is already slightly unique

https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Castellax-Achea-Battle-automata-with-Aether-flame-Cannon-2017 - Starts as a fancy-looking kastellan which isn't bad!

https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Word-Bearers-Mhara-Gal-Tainted-Dreadnought - Is basically a chaos dread already
