Hi dakkadakka,

Went through another iteration of my 2k ork list. Hoping to try it out in a tournament at the end of the month. I tried kommandos and battlewagon in previous 2 versions. I think more bodies makes playing orks more reliable with the walkers around to crack open tanks as needed. The dreads and gorkanaut do attract lascannons as expected, but if my opponent has paid for enough lascannons to 1 turn down all 3 walkers then they likely aren't equipped for around 120 boyz.

Battalion:
HQ:
Ghaz 215
Weirdboy, 'da jump' 62

TROOP:
30 shootas, nob, big choppa 189
30 shootas, nob, big choppa 189
29 sluggas, nob, big choppa 183
29 sluggas, nob, big choppa 183

ELITE:
Mad Dok Grotsnik 74

Spearhead:
HQ:
Big Mek on bike, kustom force field, choppa 101

HEAVY SUPPORT:
Gorkanaut 364
Deff Dread, pair of klaws, 2 skorcha 153
Deff Dread, pair of klaws, 2 skorcha 153

FLYER:
Blitza-Bommer 134

Turn 1 and turn 2 jump shootas , bommer goes to drop payload on stuff like devastators/pathfinders/units of 10 models with 1 wound and high saves. Debating on switching big mek to on foot to get those other 2 boyz into the slugga units but then i have to worry about keeping up with the force field. Dropping the bommer would get points for a banner nob and some big shootas for the shoota boyz but I don't know if it is worth it. Thoughts?

Keep the bike even if the big mek's duty is to shield boyz. A footslogging mek could roll poorly when it comes to roll for advance and the mobs would be slowed down. Those 25ish points of the bike are not a tax, there's nothing really valuable that you can add if you bring a footslogging big bek. The banner nob IMHO is overrated, he can be handy if he can buff lots of pks or big choppas, but boyz already have tons of attacks. Maybe you can run him near the walkers.

The gorkanaut should be 10-15 points cheaper if I remember correctly, with the spared points you add the remaining two boyz.

I'd question the use of Ghaz in this list. Unless he's sat in the Gork he's simply not going to see combat by foot slogging it across the board.

And the moment anyone realises he's in there they'll mob around it to stop him getting out. Drop him for a warboss on bike and painboy on bike (I think they should come to around the same points)

The naut is 364 as far as I can tell. Pays for 2 rokkits, 2 twin big shootas and a skorcha--all mandatory.

Ghaz walking isn't a big deal for me as he usually arrives to close combat the same turn or turn after the walkers (turn 2 or 3).

That's a lot of time tied up doing nothing though. Against a tau gunline you could have lost a large chunk of your force then and he simply won't have the hitting power to turn the tide.

I'd rather have a whole mess more boys than him...

In my practice games vs tau I only lose 2 units of boyz completely. The naut almost always dies and 1 dread usually dies too but Ghaz always makes short work of battlesuits and tanks. I had 30 boyz and ghaz charge a stormsurge, with the boyz hilariously bringing it down to 1 wound in 1 round of cc and ghaz finishing it (not a testament to his killiness but still fun).

I would 2nd the waghhh banner. having the boyz hit on 2's is amazing

I haven't tested the banner nob but I doubt it's worth dropping a unit of boyz. If i drop the bomber I can do this :

Battalion:
HQ
Ghaz 225
Weirdboy 62

ELITES
mad dok 74
banner nob 79

TROOPS

HEAVY SUPPORT

As much as I love mad dok I would advocate a painboy on bike. The extra maneuverability means he can be where you need him.

I mostly just have him hang out with the weirdboy to fix perils + 2 units of boyz in range. I like his close combat potential but the movement is useful too. Not sure where the points for a bike would come from--maybe dropping klaws back down to big choppas on the slugga nobz.

I think the 2nd list is pretty solid. I run 1 simmilar with ghazzy, wierd boy, pain boy, big mek on bike with kff, 3 mobz of 29 boyz slugga choppa/nob with Pk, 1 dread 3 killa kans with rokits and a hand full of lottaz to round out the list i really want to get a goranought though. and on occasion bring megazobz with kombi skorcha's in a battle wagon with the other charecters.
