Subject: Citadel Paint App plus Prize Draw (Now Available)
Mark your calendars and prepare yourself for a period of painting productivity the likes of which your paint-station has never seen, because from September 16th, you can download this new app to your device. That’s in just 10 days!
To celebrate the release of this revolutionary painting app, we’re running a competition to give 5 early downloaders a free set of every single base, shade and layer paint in the Citadel range!
What complex set of tasks must be completed in order to be found worthy of such bounty?
You just have to download it!
The earlier the better, as every day of the week after download, one lucky app-user will be informed that they have won. The first draw will be on Monday the 18th, continuing all week with the final draw on Friday the 22nd – so the earlier you download, the better your odds are of winning.
Oh, and did we mention the app is free?

I was just wanting an app to keep track of which paints I need/have as I just blew $10 on paint I already had and didn't get the one I needed . Had to make a second run out for the right one.

I'd put you on ignore for that comment, if I could...Alpharius 2/11/14
It's a colour picker, collection reference, shopping list, virtual mini painter and a bundle of other painting related stuff.
If it works as advertised, for a free app it strikes me as a total no brained to download, I'll find the color picker/matcher particularly useful.

would be cooler if it was also a community based image uploading thing to show off your stuff though that might cause issues with people that dont use GW stuff.

I'm sure it would also be quite easy to embed the Flickr feed into the app, could be something we see down the line.

Already found a problem with the paint inventory, with Ahriman Blue and Thousand Sons Blue missing.

So far I can't really see a point to the app. It's decent for tracking what paints a person owns but outside of that it doesn't seem very helpful. The 'paint by model' section is extremely limited.

It's neat but there's so much wasted potential with an app like this.
I'd have hoped they'd have broken down painting by miniature into factions; esp if they plan to add more. Heck considering its their go-to app now I'd have expected every them painting scheme that they'd done for each faction - instead they've cherry picked a random number.
They really should have thrown in a few effects as well - fire, water, metals etc...
Also since they've already got digital version of each colour a "painting" feature would have been neat - a simple photo of a handful of core miniatures (one from each faction at least) in grey overwhich you could then do a rough "colour selection" to try out different schemes.
They've given feedback on Google Play that there's plans to add more figures to the app.

It's interesting to say the least, but I can't say I see myself using it much expect to catalogue my paints, which I could do without the app.
A few of the base textures caught my eye, but that's really it. Also I don't know about anyone else, but the fact that some the colour guides obviously aren't close to what was done on the model is downright annoying sometimes - looking at you Daemonette tutorial.

Yeah it's a great foundation. Truth be told I think the real value to GW is the data they get on what paints we own and the most purchased ect. Also the ones that are not selling well.
If I win the draw how will I be contacted? I've got the app on my ipad.
Edit
Wait wouldn't they already know that though? Hmm... okay new hypothesis needed then.

You'll probably be good. It looks like they'll send the winners a code via push notification and then you will email the code to the Community team to claim your prize.
