Yeah, we should be happy with an incomplete range of paint colors, shut up and take our medicine!

We shouldn't offer any feedback where we can see scope for improvement or where errors have been made either, amiright?

I'd like it to be able to access my iPad's photo reel as well as take photos from the camera so I can save pics I see online and use the colour matcher on them, how entitled am I?

It's the fact that it's been available for a matter of moments and people are moaning about it. Feedback is good. I didn't say you shouldn't make any. I just think it's a shame that a free app is being jumped on by professional neck-bearded internet complainers, like so much is these days.

Are you reading a different thread?

But then, you could have just said "I like it" and moved on, but attacking the other users of this board isn't kinda your thing isn't it? So I'll stop feeding you now.

"Attacking other users of this board is my thing"? You're just trying to paint me as some kind of outside troll. Which I'm not.

I'm a user of this board, as you are, I made a comment about the fact I find it disappointing that so many things are jumped upon and torn to shreds.

You are the one that tears across the board like a bull in a china shop, to take a look at your posting history is to see a bullying, combative and aggressive individual who takes it upon himself to speak for the board and 'self-moderate'..... oh please.

Speaking of self-moderation. Best if you put me on ignore, as I will you.

A great app but the prize draw has made me a little angry. It says in the fine print at the very bottom that winners will be excluded if they come from NSW or the ACT in Australia, two of our biggest populated states.
They'll even give the prize out to Tasmania or Western Australia, two incredibly isolated/lowly populated areas of the country but exclude out two of the states? Anyone know the reasoning for this?

I'd say state laws, but then NT should be barred along with ACT, so I dunno.

As someone who has problems with colour, and trouble keeping track of which paints I've bought, I find this new app to be awesome. I'm super glad they released it.

Good Job GW.

As I recall from hearing companies offering some sort of world wide sweepstakes before, those areas of Australia have some sort of law that makes sweepstakes or something like that either really complicated or illegal.

Some odd choices in the app. Colors used to paint Rubrics...lacks Thousand Sons Blue?

Honestly, I'm mildly shocked the app isn't an iOS exclusive and is actually available for Android, too.

Its a nice app, hopefully they keep adding content of one sort or another.

As others have pointed out, at least 2 paints missing.

Given that Ahriman and Thousand Sons Blues have been around for 9 months, that's an inexcusable oversight especially since the much newer Death Guard Green is there.

Its nothing to get stroppy about, unless its still missing in the first update.

You're quite right, so I suppose that's something. Not that it does anything for me

I've often wondered why so many apps are iOS exclusive, aren't android phones and the like more common? I always felt it was a con to get people to buy iPads and such!!!

I completely agree. It's one thing to point out an issue or make a suggestion 'hey, I bet this could be better if...' but so many people just skip straight to whining. Seriously, it's free... I don't understand why people like that put so much effort into making themselves unhappy.

Many apps are iOS exclusive because the platform is easier to develop for, and the revenue stream is more reliable. Plus while iOS is not the majority platform any more, is still the largest homogeneous segment by a wide margin, due to android's fragmentation problem.

Honestly, I actually really like the app. It puts the pointers into one place and the hints at how to paint the different colors are pretty useful. Sure, an experienced painter won't get a lot out of it, but people just getting into the hobby will.

It's okay for free, but I don't see experienced painters getting much out of it. But they probably weren't the target demographic anyway. Some of the features could be more robust, like the inventory tracker, and there are missing paints and mistakes in labeling things. We'll see if they put any more effort into expanding and fixing this. But I don't see any personal need for this app.

And Relictor Gold (I think that's the gold that was missing when I was playing with it this morning). And no separate entries for the Air series of paints.

And the missing paints have been released for ...how long? I love the fact that these days there's always someone willing to bitch about people making relevant criticisms about a product that's been released incomplete. God forbid that a company release something that's up to date on Day 1!

Ahriman and TS blues were released in November 2016, which was 10 months ago now. If you think pointing this out is "moaning" then I don't know what to tell you. I'm sure it'll be patched in, but giving the app devs a complete list of paints and/or expecting it to be up to date with last year's releases is a fairly reasonable expectation. People pointing it out is also the only way that it's going to be fixed, since their QA clearly missed it...

I did email them this morning, to politely point out the missing colours and offer the suggestion of adding the Air range.

I don't think you can say jack gak about what we can discuss in the forum, however. This isn't an an enforced-sunshine and rainbows forum, and the things being pointed out are fair points. The mild insult, though, is uncalled for.

Why aren't all of Duncan's tutorials in here? Seems like a no-brainer...

As it stands right now, it's not really much of a hobby tool outside of the color matching. What it is, though, is a very impressive, highly interactive catalog.

As much as I love Duncan's tutorials, I would not want them cached to my phone through the app. I am quite content to access them via YouTube. That said, I agree that a link to a Duncan video that covers a paticular minature or painting subject listed in the app would be great, especially sense they had fun with Duncan seemingly having nothing to do because of the paint app. (Another great tongue and cheek video).

A feature I am really intrigued about is the colour matching function, though in my testing to date, it really hasn't provided good results. I know I will get a use out of the inventory function as I have been known on occasion to end up buying pots that I already had.

I think colour matching would work better if it was done off a photo rather than the camera; I also think its looking at a very tiny area for colour matching so as a result might not always pick out hte colour you think you're clicking on unless you're pointing it at a very large mono-colour area

I've done some testing with it and it's also, unsurprisingly, very dependent on lighting and distance. You can get a multitude of results for the same object depending on how you position your camera. Still, if you can control for those things, it's a pretty cool idea and it does work mostly as intended.
