So if you were the type of person who liked to keep backups of your most commonly-used paints, say Agrax Earthshade, wouldn't it be a big help to know that you not only have a pot of Agrax Earthshade, but you have a backup pot as well just in case you run out before your next trip to the FLGS or GW store? That's the explanation we've been trying to give you. The lack of this feature is by no means a deal breaker, but it would certainly be a welcome addition for many of us.

This is interesting, because while you cannot scrape together the insight to even pretend to understand why somebody would want a feature for the app, you do have the insight to analyze the intent of another posters actions.

Is this what happens when a person with autism is a mind reader?

It's the only possible explanation I can think of.

# of pots and also an option to mark at least one pot as full/half/ less than 1/4 would be really useful just for tracking how much you have left would be awesome.

Sure if you know you have one pot that is low adding it to a wish list is a nice idea. But you may not need too much of that paint unless you need to create a new color scheme down the line so having the option is useful.

A section for saved/ custom color schemes would also be super useful to keep track of how you have your existing minis painted incase you want to paint more in the future.

I would also like to see links to Duncan's painting videos for existing models with paint lists.

A screen where you can list each item/ area on a model where you can customize the paint scheme would be absolutely awesome

That or Penny Arcade's green blackboards. There's a lot of that about. Every time I spend some time in the N&R or Discussions forum find that I end up adding a few more green blackboardiers to my ignore list.

See. I personally would probably never use that function if it were offered, but I don't think it's stupid to think it could not be useful for or appreciated by other people.

For me all I need to know is whether I need to replace or purchase any given paint. The app does that fine for me - I am halfway through my inventory. I particularly like the way you can mark them from the Miniature painting section.

Still wish you could record your own colour schemes per figure though - that would complete the app for me.

It would be great if you could take a photo of your finished miniatur, and then select the paints you used on each part of it - to create your own record of how you did it.

I find I often forget how I painted something, and even if I write it down on a piece of paper, that piece of paper tend to get lost after a while...

The app DOES have a wishlist. So if you are down to only 1 or 2 pots of Agrax Earthshade, you can add it to the wishlist, even though you already have some.

I still have not seen a single explanation as to why it would be helpful to indicate number of pots in the app. I've only seen explanations of why people own more than one pot. I'm still curious if anyone has a reason. I can't think of one.

Unless maybe you want to always have around 5 pots of something. You're at the store and see it on your wishlist, but you're not sure if you only need to buy one pot to get you up to five, or four pots. Is that the issue?

What's the purpose of an inventory if you don't know how many you have of the item?

Obviously a lot of people are finding a use for an inventory, even without the ability to add multiples. The usefulness is that you know whether you have a color or not. That's pretty useful. If I'm looking at one of the paint "recipes" in the app, I can see if I'm missing any of the colors I need to implement it. That's useful, because I can easily see which paints I still need to get to paint that recipe, and add them to my wish list so I remember to buy them.

I think people have answered your question pretty well. Some need to have more than one pot on hand because they order things online and it takes time to arrive. Having a quantity also helps with planning terrain or large projects. If I'm building a commission army for someone then I might need 3 pots of one color. Or if I'm juggling two or three commissions it could be something I need across more than one and having the quantity listed is a good thing.

It's not going to hurt you if it's there, but that doesn't mean that it shouldn't be there. If it's helpful to others but not yourself don't derail the attempt to get it added or at least talked about. It's by we can't have nice things .

I send myself emails with the paint schemes (and lots of other things I want myself to remember). As long as I know how to search for it in my email archive, I can find it again.

Consider using Trello as a neat way of making lists. I use a list for each colour and then an item for each step.

Armies:

just started (sep 17)
Skaven: 2400 WIP

Not to poop on this app as it does have some ok features, but have you guys tried out the paintrack app? http://www.courageousoctopus.com

It's NOT limited to GW colours and has other features, such as paint matching between different vendors etc.

Starting "anew" - 5000pts - oldskool models
Slowly but surely - almost 2500pts?
Small but taking their vitamins - 2500ish?
daemons roar - 3000ish ?

Oh fliers - how thou hath ruined the game

I am that type of person. I would just add Agrax Earthshade to the wishlist once I was down to one pot, instead of waiting to add it until the last pot was almost empty.

"Some need to have more than one pot on hand because they order things online and it takes time to arrive" is an example of why someone would want to own more than one pot of paint, and isn't what I was asking about.

It does make sense that if you do a lot of different large terrain projects and commission jobs, you may end up with various numbers of pots of different paints, and if you're about to start a new one it might be handy to check the app to see if you have enough of the colors you need to start it, and if not just how many you need to have enough to get the new project done. That's probably kind of an unusual case, so I can see that not being a high priority for the app.

Also, I've done absolutely nothing to "derail the attempt to get it added or at least talked about". I'm not sure what influence you think I have with the app developers to prevent the feature from being added, but it seems like I've managed to get the idea talked about quite a lot.
