Just to understand I'm reading everything correctly and to find productive solutions.

Say you have nurgle units, previous deathguard that have been eliminated from the new codex, stands to reason not every nurgling worshipping csm is deathguard.

But by ignoring the deathguard chapter trait we place ourselves behind (it's not our fault if we nurgled up some stuff that has been left out of deathguard.

So now, with mark of nurgle doing basically nothing we need to choose a chapter tactic from the CSM book for those that want to keep using our nurgle csm? In addition to chaos artefacts?

I was going to go with the iron warriors options, but thoughts/opinions please

Renegade chapters, for when your conversions don't make sense anymore.

Yeah Renegades make a lot of sense. Good for bikers and jump infantry.

Black Legion is also known to have a Nurgle subfaction, the Bringers of Decay.

Nottingham (yay!)

Alpha Legion:
- your Legion Trait is in fact caused by clouds of flies
- your Legion Stratagem represents vanguard units who have been poisoning the water supply
- your Legion Artefact is a censer which spreads clouds of disease
- your Legion Warlord Trait represents the unpredictability of symptoms, plus the killing of Patient Zero means nothing now that the pandemic has started and continues to mutate

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Night Lords:
- your Legion Trait is due to your horrific appearance
- your Stratagem is caused by a cloud of flies
- your Artefact is made by not scrubbing under your nails
- your Warlord Trait is caused by a sentient walking dead style omnivirus which gives your Warlord glimpses through the eyes of his enemies

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Iron Warriors:
- your enemies are all coughing and giving away their positions, or maybe the omnivirus again
- 6+ FNP Stratagem makes sense
- fearlessness is a nurgley thing
- endurance boosting artefact fits

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Black Legion:
- I guess you've got a mild form of the rage virus?
- It's the Imperium's fault you're like this
- scrapcode virus
- in fact it's everyone's fault you're like this

Word Bearers:
- erm
- why would you choose them right now
- I collect WBs and I'm telling you we suck
- I guess your Stratagem comes from your infections having an empyrean origin giving you a closer link to daemons?

My havocs, oblits, and terminators depending on the DG codex have all been declared Iron Warriors working with the Death Guard on the Obliterator Virus. In Death Guard colors.

Sigh. Roughly 3/4 of the models I bought for my Vectorium in january are now obsolete.

What a waste of money :(

Yeah, I am disappointed about this as well. No jump marines or bike marines.... It makes me afraid for tsons. I love my sorcerers on bikes.

Erm, based on the index your bike sorcerer is already invalid. The KSons army list allows Sorcerers, Sorcerers in Terminator Armor, and Sorcerers of Discs of Tzeentch. No bikes.

Yeah, I know this. I am still at odds on what to do about it. I love the model, but it's useless as tsons now. Now I am looking at possible tsons posers, make them a different chapter and have them use vanguard detachment (hq and elites). I won't get their new toys, but I can keep my old ones... question is what chapter tactic fits for sorta tsons.....

They don't need to be Thousand Sons posers, they can be a warband (technically called a Thrallband for Thousand Sons) that is lead by a Sorcerer who was once a member of the Order of the Blind also called the Ammitara Occult Intercession Cabal They were the Fast Attack troops of the legion in charge of Reconnaissance, Espionage, assassination, misdirection, and the legions Snipers. In fact Arhriman wears the armor of Amon, who was the head of the Order of the Blind, and until Ahriman killed him, leader of the Brotherhood of Dust. You could easily build a Thousand Sons army around this concept. And if anyone tries to call you out for not playing a 'fluffy' army, you can point them in the right direction.

If I was to build this, I'd consider running it as an Alpha Legion or Night Lords army, but painted in TS colors since both armies are based around the idea of Recon and fear

I think for any heavy support such as oblits or havocs, or if you even include a hellbrute (or even better a leviathan dread with 2 butcher arrays) you might as well go alpha legion. That -1 to be hit, means your guys are going to survive way longer.

Add into that detatchment 40 cultist and you can infiltrate them to do the cultist-pox walker trick and as HQ a sorcerer with warptime and prescience

You are not really not left out as much as you would think. You can still act like some Nurgle Worshipping Renegades (btw renegade legion trait is AWESOME) along your DG detachment. In fact you would want to do that anyway to dig into all units around.

In fact DG would use some sorcerer with warp time.

Don't go alpha legion etc go renegades. No legion mixing because rengades are not like they have thier own primarch. So it somehow stay coherent as whole.

Just don't be yet another Alpha legion dude. Have your own style .
