As some of you may know there have been two main types of connecting clip for 3d printed tiles, the 'Dragon Lock' clip by FatDragonGames.com and the 'OpenLOCK' clip by PrintableScenery.com (listed in alphabetic order ).

Well last night publicly both main parties involved agreed in a FaceBook discusion in the '3D Printing For Gaming Terrain' group to allow an 'adaptor clip' to be developed so that both types of 3d printed tile could be used together. It was agreed that Matt Barker from PrintableScenery.com would design the adaptor clip and that both companies would offer it to customers for free.

Good news all around I think, for both companies concerned, for the other 3d design developers who already utilise either one of the clips, and most importantly of all it is good news for the customers.

That's interesting! Could you share some pics of the clips - were they not already compatible with the other type?

In my opinion, it is easier to use just use the slicer so you don't use either of their connecting bases. I just use the OpenForge magnetic base connectors then everything is magnetized. It just makes assembly less fiddly and much faster.

RiTides - Unfortunately no they are not compatible. This is why an adaptor clip with 'Dragon Lock' one side and 'OpenLock' the other is such big news in 3d printing for gaming.

I will post pictures later showing the difference later (just VERY busy ATM).

Dark Severance - Is it? But my guess is you are in the minority.

I guess it would depend on how you define minority but it isn't as little as you probably think.

Well Matt from PrintableScenery.com has posted this link to the Beta version (you can see the difference in connection types and thicknesses between the two systems in this pic):

Hopefully it will be tested and released very soon.
