The HQ, Death Company, and Sanguinary Guard serve as the Anvil and the Troops count as the Hammer.

The Intercessors cover back field objectives, the Scouts cover midfield and harass characters, and the Tactical Squad rides with Mephiston in the Razorback to the front lines. Mephiston punches people in the face, while the Tactical Squad runs to secure an objective since all my troops will have Objective Secured.

Devastator squads cover for enemy Heavy's and Lords of War.

The Assassin is there to harass characters and provide fire support as necessary.

I'm looking to write my first BA lists of 8th edition too, and so I'm keen to see some discussion on this list. Here are some questions I have for the OP:

1. All your HQ have Jump Packs--are you planning to run these to get aura effects with your Death Company, or the Sanguinary Guard? (I know you also have Lemartes)

2. Why the choice of Stalker boltguns on the Intercessors?

3. Why Thunder Hammers on the DC rather than Powerfists or something else?

4. With the Sniper rifles having no AP modification, and needing "6s" to get the mortal wound, what are you planning to use this one unit for? In my experience it's not been enough to do any damage quickly. How does the Vindicare assassin play into this?

I'm just trying to get a handle on how the updated gameplay works. I've been getting absolutely tabled testing out the new Space Marines Codex (using Raven Guard mostly) vs. Eldar, so am keen to get back to BA (I have a large collection but just am not sure what to take).

Thunder hammers are simply better than power fists for the same points, the only downside to a hammer compared to the fist is that you lose your ranged weapons.
