What has changed with the release of those few Codices?
Can you explain how has your list changed when new Codex came out compared to your Index list?
How did the release of those Codices changed general list building and play styles (both for armies that got a Codex and those who are still waiting)?

Word Bearers here.
Death Hex has made a big change to my shooting and lists - I need at least three spells a turn now. Got myself a Sorcerer on Steed who can be a mobile caster.
Legion Trait isn't as terrible as I first thought, I tend to avoid Chaos Soup detachments so that I'll be less likely to see heavy weapon guys run away.
Legion Stratagem makes no difference so far, Summoning is so nerfed by the requirement to stand stil. Maybe in non-Matched Play.
Endless Cacophony and VOTLW stratagems have led me to start a Noise Marines unit. Going to make them twenty strong, in a Kharybdis, with Jump Pack Lord & Sorcerer.
Tide of Traitors Stratagem means I have at least one large Cultist unit.
Killshot Stratagem has bumped up my hobby scheduling of two more Predators.
Exalted Champion has really bumped up my hobby scheduling on a Spartan.
Continued crappiness of Reaper Autocannon has set back my hobby scheduling of a Fire Raptor Gunship. I'm giving it badass Cannons, not chunky Heavy Bolters, but the half damage on Reaper rounds has made it less important than a Berzerkers party van.
My most used list is a 35pow Spearhead of Havocs and a Lord. It has not changed - it is still my best force for small games. Will be trying a Zerks-NMs-Helbrute Vanguard, though.
I'm bumping up my building of DG allies as their Codex has introduced great options for Nurgle Daemon vehicles to charge up Epidemius.

I have noticed how underpowered my Blood Angels feel against a Codex. The Relics, Strategems, and special army rules just give them a huge leg up. Had 3 Kastellan robots kill my 2 eight man Devastator Squads that were in cover in one round of shooting. It's hard to have an answer to the shenanigans a Codex army can pull off when your limited to just your Index and Core Rulebook.

Yeah, my regular large games are three way FFA with Soace Wolves and Tyranids. Nid player is doing well, as he arrived in 8ed new with Swarmlord and a mountain of Genestealers and no baggage of being used to 3-7ed, but SW player is feeling distinctly disadvantaged against Endless Cacophony plasma units.

Its not fair if you play with your index army against a codex army. They have relics, stratagems, chapter tactics, etc. You should have 50-100 points more, as a compensation.

Ad mech here. Our screening are decent now and melee options are now much more viable (fulgurites, dragoons). Lists changed from crab plaza with Cawl to a bit more diversified lists. Robots are now kings of lists. We have easy way to deal with Magnus and Mortarion.. (wrath of mars stratagem and Dakkastelans) Cheap HQ allowed for more detachments. Other than that codex was rather underwhelming.

1. „Stab the shoty, shot the staby”
2. „Who bails, fails.”
3. „Act to win yourself and not for your opponent to lose.”
4. „If in dilemma between damage and durability, chose third- speed.”
5. „Focus fire.” |

the codex that has done the most benefit is chaos. Chaos has changed a lot more off the basis of its codex than any other faction so far (discounting DG that were half an army beforehand).

I think the main thing that's changed has been the stock levels of Noise Marines and Obliterators

Honestly if I was playing against someone with an index army I wouldn't mind agreeing in advance for them to take one of the published tactics/dogmas/etc from an existing codex.
Like, why not let someone take Necrons and give them Ultramarine or Alpha Legion/Raven Guard tactics to even it up a bit. I'm sure there will be a stealthy Dynasty who can deep strike or infiltrate.
We can see enough patterns to be able to allocate something fluffy while they wait for their codex.
Clearly this is something you would discuss in advance, not announce after deployment!

In my aforementioned games with Space Wolves and Tyranids, the former gets to use any Stratagems common to SM & GK and SM Warlord Traits. The latter is going to have full IG tricks for his human genecultists. Swarmlord, Genestealers, Thunderwolves and Njal Stormcaller are so good, it's balancing well enough so far, in fact we're tied for wins.

Adeptus mechanicus. Need astra militarum gems point costs and options. Oir codex sucks. We had a spearhead prior and now we got a batt or two. No point no hq options no aura options no buffs .
No mobility no transport no flier no tougness no pshych. And we havent trade for extreme dakka since the robots 36 exrteme and only buff can be outranged.
We had a good versatile army now all got versarile armies with gems and ad mech got low unit count altered flavor and no option to make lists with various units.
Its bad. Astra militarum if you have now is the time. What an army they are with new codex...!!!!

Devestating Grey Knight Dreadknight
|
Grey knights added what we all wanted (a GM dreadknight) and made our terminators way too expensive. We got one cool warlord trait and a bunch of average psychic powers as well as nerfing all our HQ's smite. So overall it was a wash and felt like not much of a change. So now we sit back and watch with increasing depression as other armies get awesome psychic powers, stratagems, and bonuses to iconic/fluffy units.
