Hello everyone I recently bought 1/72 Long toms thinking they would be great for earthshaker carriages. I was wrong. Someone told me they would be good, but they where not(trying to convince my ork friend to buy them and use the kromlech grots with them.
But I need something that is a good deal for them. something in the 20-30$ range.
Does anyone have some suggestion? im at a loss now and getting frusterated.

Could you scratch build them out of Basilisk kits?
Take me with a grain of salt, and find out exact measurements before you start doing anything, but I'd get some basilisks, or the bitz on the gun sprue if possible, Hoard o bitz sells them but is currently out of stock, and then I'd add some cheap wheels, maybe something like these:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Lego-Wheels-Tires-Axle-Sets-CAR-TRUCK-VEHICLE-PARTS-city-town-30-x-10-5/190820653855?_trkparms=aid%3D888007%26algo%3DDISC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D41375%26meid%3Db3d4f3e03900464a8df097a1ae781ed1%26pid%3D100009%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D2%26sd%3D282630901699&_trksid=p2047675.c100009.m1982
And then use plasticard for the actual platform that it sets atop. Then you could use the chimera bits from the rest of the basilisk kit for something else, or ebay them to recoup some of the costs.

Check out Victoria Minis "Sledgehammer" artillery carriage. Its actually a bit larger than the FW one but its the best alternative I've been able to find.

I am copying this over from where I posted it in the Adeptus Mechanicus thread, but I figure this could apply to all Earthshaker seekers:
I'm not done with the painting, and I plan to add a few crew to the base, but you get the idea. It's an easy conversion.

Crop the legs and the barrel of the gun and it will be the same size as the FW model. I also clipped off the wheels in the front and added sand bags. Also, I would buy 4 or 5 from that website. If I remember right, they have like a $25 shipping fee, but if you spend $50 it's free. That might have been a limited deal though.

Wow, that is a great Earthshaker model at a great price. I'm going to need to think up a reason to take even more.

For value-for-money it's hard to beat ebayed basilisks. I converted a plasticard base for the gun and magnetised it so I can put it back on the chassis, so now I can run either the platforms or just regular basilisks
That walking platform does look awesome though!
