Compared to 3 hits for 2 wounds getting through 1 wounds for d6 damage to fnp.
Dscythes are more consistent where cannons have the ability to drop big chunks of wounds.
And sure, guide will help out the cannons but not the scythes. But you would usually have a better target for it then that I would say.
I calculate the wraithcannon numbers a little differently.
5 shots, 3 to 4 hits. 3 to 4 wounds with S10. Enemy saves 2 wounds with a 4++, which still means 2 wounds get through ... yielding an average of 7 wounds (2xD6) to be reduced by
FNP, bringing us to 4 unsaved wounds.
Unsupported
WG will not do well, only killing 2
DG termies or a negligible bloody nose for Morty or Maggy. However, with Guide, Doom and Jinx, which is the synergy that makes eldar shine, that will get better.
WraithCannon with support:
Guided 5 rolls, all hit. Doom means 5 wounds. Jinx means 4 get through ... yielding an average of 14 points (
4d6). 5+
FNP means 9 or 10 wounds get through.
If we double the sample, like over 2 rounds of shooting or 10
WG in a unit (Webway Strike!), the number ratio comes down with a bigger sampling.
10 shots, Guided, will get 8 to 9 hits. Dooming will yield 7~8 wounds. Enemy's Jinxed 5++ allows 5 to 6 wounds through. An average of 18 to 21 points of damage to be
FNP'd down to 14 wounds. Throw in some Dark Reaper fire and a traitor primarch dies.
Before the primarchs hit the seen I was fielding d-scythes and they were great, but with more vehicles and
MCs, M&M, I feel the
D6 damage w-Cannon is the better load out for the
WG.
