I thought there'd be a thread for it already ?
Apparently, a navy pilot thought it'd be cute and funny to draw something in the sky.

Spoiler:

I hear he's in hot water for it, which is definitely bad for navy personel

I initially thought this had to be a joke, perhaps an internet urban legend kind of thing.
Nope, it's legit.

On one hand, I do find it childishly amusing, but, on the other hand, drawing penises in the sky doesn't really help with the current situation.

Honestly, the only thing that surprises me is that this is the first time this has happened.

I've spent plenty of time around fighter pilots, and I'm completely blown away that no one has every been caught before because of this.

The pilot responsible will likely be reprimanded, have a pretty ugly black mark on his career, but I guarantee you he'll be seen as a god among men for the next few years in the fighter pilot circles.

This is not the first time this has happened. I grew up in Annapolis, I used to watch the Blue Angels practice. Every once in a while, someone does something like this.

Does not matter what they draw, someone is going to complain. Glad to see pilots have enough control to carry out a maneuver like this.

He must have a English brother.

Someone else drew one on the flight tracker systems. Slightly less obvious than the one drawn brightly and directly I'm the sky but still.

Surely the financial investment into combat pilots rather puts them off making too harsh a reprimand. Anyway, no publicity is bad probably blicity, there will be a few more applications to the USAF as a result of this in the news, no doubt.

If there is one thing I have learned from being in a military family, it is that penises are a deeply ingrained part of military culture. Archeologists of the future will be able to track our military history by the reach of the penises we have drawn and engraved in every theater of combat.

I don't know why, but I've never found penises very funny. Not vaginas either.

I'm going to have to ask you to specify exactly what straws you think I'm grasping at. Because my point was rather simple: the current problems of how some men treat women very badly is not helped by other men drawing lewd pictures in the sky.

What about posting about it in an otherwise unrelated thread on the off-topic section of a toy soldier forum? Is that helping, or is it just a somehow even less effective version of a twitter hashtag campaign?

Pretty much - this is just too funny to get upset out. Make the dude clean toilets for a week and then let him get back to his important job of defending our freedom and serving in the greatest air-force known to man kind.

For what it's worth - this is a pretty impressive maneuver.

Interesting enough, I have a pretty balanced mix of people on Facebook. So far I have seen absolutely zero people complaining about the great sky penis, but I have seen a bunch of people posting memes about special snowflakes being offended by it.

Go figure.

Being triggered is old and busted, the new hotness for a while now has been being offended by people that are (allegedly) offended. Meta-triggering.

I'm kicking it up a notch by being offended by the offense people take at other people's perceived level of offensivity.
