This isn't really serious, but with GW showing off the new Marbo model, and the new Custodes HQ, I joked about how this was the first two models in a new triumvirate box set. So, with that in mind, lets come up with the most awful third figure for this fictional box set (must be imperial), and the story that brings them together.

My idea: Rerelease of Inquisitor Kazamarov. Him leading a Catachan/ Custodes force to establish an Imperial beachhead in one of the "safer" passages through the Great Rift to unite the two halves of the Imperium.

I'm hoping that Tau will get a triumvirate. Shadowsun in plastic, Farsight in plastic, and O'Kais(who has been getting chatted up in the fluff and apparently features in the forthcoming Dark Angels book).

Marbo and the Custodes doesn't work sadly as Marbo is resin and the Custodes guy is plastic.

Oh may, a Tau Triunvirate box could be lovely... but for variety I'll prefer a Ethereal hero, not another commander. Doesn't O'Kais uses the same armour type as Shadowsun? They could release a XV22 commander box, with bits to make Shadowsun, O'Kais, and a generic commander on XV22 just like the Tyranid Tyrand Box can make a special character or a bunch of generic ones.

I don't think we'll see any triumvirate boxes again unless GW choose to do the next portion of the story as they did the last --- but all of that will take a backseat to finishing the first run of codices.

Perhaps seeing the sequel to The Gathering Storm next Summer? So wherever the story goes (probably driven by whatever armies they want to buff) so will the Triumvirate follow. While they could do a Triumvirate for any number of races - I'd imagine we'll see more Imperium and more Chaos.

Semi seriously Marbo, Straken and Nork Deddog as a Catachan triumvirate.

He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

We have two named Ethereal heroes right now and a plastic Ethereal with a special loadout.
Remember that Aun'va is technically dead, being nothing but a hologram.

Haven't seen a mention as to what O'Kais is using but it could be that Shadowsun is getting bumped up to a special Ghostkeel, seeing as how that's something she was apparently fond of from Kauyon and Mont'ka.

I don't like the idea of Shadowsun on a Ghostkeel. It is too big, I believe, to translate that idea of a "character". Plus, how will she show her head inside that?
And I wouldn't, personally, be agaisn't a new Aun'Shi in plastic.

How does she show her head in the helmeted head variant that she comes with?

Giving it specialized weapons and the like would be a way to differentiate it as a character. Look at the Swarmlord compared to a Hive Tyrant; what's the difference?

Thats my point. She can take his helmet off in the XV22. She won't be able to do that with the Ghostkeel... or it will look very strange.

And yes, the only difference the Swarmlord has is different weapons and a bigger horn. Thats the downside of having multikits with special characters, they aren't as unique. But look at Nork Nedogg, he looks unique enough even coming from a multi-kit.

The third member of the Triumvirate is the head of the Administratum. Sly Marbo is actually the Emperor, Trajann is following him around trying to keep him safe, and the Head Scribe is just trying to get him to focus on his job.

Not sure about the Custodes guy, but since Marbo is a Rambo riff (or Schwarzenegger after all?), I'd add

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.

I think the best Triumvirate box should be during the final Imperial Civil War, during its transition from Empire to Republic:

Crassus, Pompey, Caesar.

I doubt we'll see an Ork triumvirate simply because they're such a "nothing" in the grand scheme of pushing a story.

Well we've got an adeptus custodian and marbo. Obviously marbo makes the mess and the custodian mops it up with his custodian-issue power mop, we need a model to tie it all together to act as the mess itself.

The third model in the triumvirate should be a new plastic squat battleforce.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

It's going to be Lionel Johnson.

Not to be confused with the Dark Angels primarch, of course. This ancient, 41,000 year old poet will be the perfect addition to any imperium army, capable of depressing your foes with morose poetry and attacking with his mighty power pen (Power Sword+1S)

Man GW sure has a sense of humor. Is it not hilarious that this guy wrote a poem called the dark angel?

Going on the Marbo + Custodes theme, I think the 3rd should be some sort of transport for them, like a Stormlord with police sirens or something.
