Subject: Cheap online sources of insulation/styrofoam in the UK?

We'll find out soon enough eh.

I know the standard wisdom for getting hold of pink & green-gray and blue insulation foams is to ask around at builder's yards etc for cheap offcuts or to raid skips for it, but that's not really an option for me at the moment so I need to order the stuff online. I've seen a few hobby supplies places stocking it, but they tend to put a hilarious markup on there. Anyone have any suggestions where to go?
I'm also after foamcore sheets as well, if anyone knows a cheap place to buy those.

Are you Highlands? These guys could be worth a look if you're not.

You're after XPS-Extruded Polystyrene. Ravatherm is a brand that makes it, just find a supplier.

Skips usually
Any trade DIY store should stock it like Jewsons etc.
Failing that, you could just order some online and get it delivered, google is your friend here

Seriously? "Google it"? I wonder if it ever occurs to anyone making blindingly obvious smartarse remarks to just, you know, not. Christ no wonder Facebook is slowly killing forums.

There was the bit in the middle as well so I am still being helpful though the OP stated that he didn't have time for it.
The problem with this is that hobby places do give stupid markup because people only want a small amount of insulation which would involve the Hobby store having to pay a higher markup themselves for someone to cut the insulation board smaller for them or for the hobby store to take the time to cut the insulation board down.
If you order from the trade, you're almost guaranteed to end up with a full size board (Which if you put two together and carve it can make for a lightweight gaming table) which you'll have to cut down yourself.
If colour doesn't matter these might be your best bet

although....on a second look...I did find this and they have a 6mm version as well for less

It's not that easy Supershandy.
This stuff is designed to be bought in bulk. Ie way more than the average hobbyist would need in a lifetime.
Minimum free deliveries of £250, large pallettes, too bulky to post etc. Pictures and descriptions of foam on the Internet don't tell you much about whether it'll be okay to build a Chaos Dwarf Ziggurat etc
Jewsons don't sell it, just the awful foil backed yellow foam-too soft and powdery.
B&Q used to, under the name Knauf Spaceboard, now called Ravatherm. A pack of 4 4x2ft 2" sheets was about £20
It's surprisingly tricky to get for a decent price in small quantities.
Edit: Also your 1st link is for nasty white polystyrene. You need Rigid XPS as per your second link but those are very thin sheets.
Also, OP how much do you need and of what thickness?

Don't talk to me about insulation panels, I saw way too many of them in my last job from many different manufacturers.

For plastic sheet I found these guys
http://www.plasticstockist.com/Plastic-Off-Cuts/Palfoam-Foam-PVC-Sheet/White-Matt-Foamed-Pvc-Sheet.aspx
They do cut to measure stuff but then end up with odd shaped off cuts that they sell half price. Shipping is a bit pricey for one or 2 sheets but if you know you need a lot you can get a good deal, and a lot cheaper than ebay.

Ebay! When I did my board I just searched "Blue foam" and there are loads of different sellers that to various sizes. I got two 2ft by 4ft (5 inches thick) boards for like... £45? Defo worth a search.
