So, I'm trying to put together an Inquisition army, bear with me...
Someone mentioned some really out there variations of Inquisitor retinues including things like Ork mercenaries. Well that gak got my juices flowing! I've always loved the Kroot but never been too interested in the Tau. One of the things i loved was how they were friendly with the Tau but told them to bugger off on the slavery thing. They have their own starships and functions as mercenaries where ever their Warspheres can take them. I started searching around for Kroot units and noticed the Gnarlocs and Great Knarlocs, which I cannot find on GW's nor FW's websites.
We're they discontinued? If so, are they still listed in the Indexes?

Yes, they were discontinued.
They used them in much the same way as orks used squiggoths.

Thank you, Chromedog. Does anyone with a FW index know if they're still listed?

IDK, but this thread( https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/659902.page#top) has the OOP FW models, just unhide the tau section and you'll see what the gnarlocs looks like officially, then convert from there.

FW has mentioned that they will eventually have an index entry.

No rules at present, but I can tell you about what they used to do if you want.
Any conversion is going to require a lot of greenstuff resurfacing; but from a size/pose standpoint normal Knarlocs are probably close to Cold Ones (in fact there were Knarloc riders built out of Cold Ones in the Kroot Mercenaries White Dwarf list before the Forge World ones existed).
The Great Knarloc is harder given how much bigger most of the Age of Sigmar models have gotten; there's also a leg balance problem where most monsters have roughly equal weight on the forelimbs and rear limbs, while the Great Knarloc is basically bipedal and has stunty forelimbs and a lot of torso left behind the back legs. By size alone Sigmarine Dracoth Knights or the Chaos Lord with the Manticore are close to right but even then you'd be so close to starting from scratch that you'd almost be better off building a skeleton from sprue and starting from there.

How well did the Knarlocs and Great Knarlocs perform on the table? I've been checking eBay the last few days and what little is available is expensive. Just need to prioritize my spending a bit.

I am really disappointed that the Kroot never got more. The White Dwarf army was awesome. Maybe some day they will get more rules and more models.

Wow! Just got my hands on the Index. They literally stripped out just about everything that made Kroot, Kroot. I don't know if I could possibly be more disappointed and elated at the same time. Should be easier to sweep up the smaller Kroot collections for cheap before the new Codex comes out but also scares me a bit as GW isn't well known for supporting smaller factions that don't rhyme with Space Mar-... Oh wait.
