I'd seen hints this was happening but Beasts of War have now done a full reveal here

I'm fairly surprised about this as Indiegogo has a lot lower level of exposure (and traffic) especially in the USA and Steamforged has already used KS successfully for the Darksouls boardgame (although since it's still dragging on I guess the could feel they had an image problem?)

from Kommisar on BoW

Steamforged games have posted on their blog.

The Indiegogo campaign will be capped at 800 backers. From reading the blog it sounds like this campaign is being used to test the market and see what the level of demand is like for this move. They can see the idea of PVC versions of the older teams being a potentially viable move, but they cannot justify the level of expense (according to Steamforged, $80K per team) just on potential, they need to be certain people will want this.

The campaigns are now live, one for each faction single $100 pledge for each (apparently 16% off retail)

https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/guild-ball-the-butcher-s-guild#/

These are fixed campaigns (they don't get the money unless the project funds just like KS)

Note shipping is not included and will be collected afterwards via their pledge Manager

Estimated shipping rates are presented below - we have based these on our current set weights/sizes so we expect little deviation from these prices - however these are just estimates:
•UNITED KINGDOM: $5
•EUROPE: $10
•USA: $15
•REST OF WORLD: $20

Given those numbers i'd suspect that at least one would have funded on KS (especially if they hadn't run both at once)

but that probably means no plastics for the existing teams in the short term

Guild Ball

We recently held two Indiegogo community driven campaigns to make the iconic Butcher and Fishermen teams in the brand-new PVC material we have been using for our new Guild releases.

We conducted several surveys with a view to see if there was enough evidence to support bringing these products to market. Our Indiegogo campaigns were capped at 800 backers each, The goal was set to a level that would enable us to produce and bring these products to market .

On this occasion the initial community interest has not, unfortunately, resulted in sufficient backers to make the production of these products viable.

This project has helped us with our planning for Season 4 and beyond. Our attention now is firmly focused on the future of Guild Ball and the exciting experiences we can bring to it - leaving the past behind us.

The alternate sculpts were a hot topic of conversation and seemed to be popular. So, we will be investigating if there are other ways that we can make these available but, at this point, we cannot guarantee that they will ever be released as products.

We would like to thank everyone who participated in this campaign, whether by backing the Indiegogo directly, or discussing the project on our forums or social media. We are grateful for your continued support and are looking forward to sharing with you everything we have planned for an exciting 2018!

Thank you.

well there's the official response from facebook

(and it does sound very much like Azrael13 may well be right, they did them because some were pestering them, but they didn't really have their hearts in it)
