Anyone see a problem with using a gaunt summoner on disk https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Gaunt-Summoner-2015 as a herald of tzeentch on disk https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Daemons-of-Tzeentch-Herald-on-Disc?
The model is way cooler. I don't play tournaments, just casual store games.

For casual games, I'd say it's fine. I'd ensure your opponent knows what it is proxying first, but otherwise the model is a decent alternative as it has a lot to distinguish it.

This is what I do for my Heralds, and I don't think anyone would bother you, even in a competitive setting. Gaunt summoners have no rules in 40k so it's hardly confusing.

Go nuts. I used Tzeentch Magisters for my Heralds. Used Gaunty sometimes, as well.
Pictures attached, Magisters unfortunately not painted in these, but you get the idea.

Blood Angels, Custodes, Tzeentch, Alpha Legion, Astra Militarum, Deathwatch, Thousand Sons, Imperial Knights, Tau, Genestealer Cult.
I have a problem.
Being contrary for the sake of being contrary doesn't make you unique, it makes you annoying.

No problem at all. It adds variety to a range that needs some.
Plenty of people use the various Nurgle mortals as Nurgle heralds so I don't see much a difference there.
Even competitively, it's fine.

Gaunt Summoners are daemons of Tzeentch who act as heralds for Archaon. They cannot be mistaken for another 40k model and are the literal descriptions of the unit you wish to use them as.
