I'm looking for feedback on my Custodes / Blood Angels / Astra Militarum list. The basic premise is the Guard + Scouts hold objectives while the Custodes and Blood Angel Captains do the killing.

Custodes battalion:
2 Shield-Captains on Dawneagle Jetbikes - 320
8 Custodian Guard - 6 w/ Spears, 2 w/ Blades / Shields - 430
2x3 Custodian Guard - 3 w/ Spears - 312
3 Vertus Praetors - 270

Blood Angels battalion:
Armoury of Baal: 2 additional Relics of Baal, -3 CP
Captain - Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, Jump Pack, The Angel's Wing - 129
Captain - Thunder Hammer, Storm Shield, Jump Pack, The Veritas Vitae - 129
3x5 Scouts w/ Boltguns - 165

Cadian battalion:
Company Commander - Grand Strategist - 30
Company Commander - Kurov's Aquila - 30
3x10 Infantry Squad - Lascannon - 180

Total - 1995, 12 CPs (before spending points on relics / pre-game stratagem)

Thanks!

I don't like the big unit of 8 custodian guard.

go 3x3 guard and then use the extra points to add lemartes to the BA battalion, more bikes or another shield captain on a bike?

Not sure how valuable that second relic is on the BA capt. I'd rather see a SC with the 3+ re-roll charge bike.

I like BA CCW scouts and like to do 2x with boltguns and 2x with pistols + CCW. Thinning out that big 8 CG unit will give you the points to do that with and objectives/screens seem to work better for me with 4 squads than 3.

I'm guessing the second Aquila is a typo (in the cadian battalion). Just a thought exercise why Cadian instead of one of the others?

Looks like a really good list though. I'd playtest it and then try one with a smaller CG unit with the above changes and see how it works out.

Just a second - with grand strategist and the veritas vitae does that give you TWO rolls at getting a CP back each time you spend one?

Crazy

Are those 8 todes deepstriking? If they are you should consider a terminator shield captain to go with them on the drop. If not I’d rather have more bikes than footslogging todes. I’ve noticed that honestly the squads of 3 go more unnoticed. But the large drop teams from 9” away have incredible survivability and put out an insane amount of hurt especially with a re-roll 1’s giving them close to 100% hit rate

"You are free, Leman Russ of Fenris, because your freedoms match the emperor's will. For each time I wage war against worlds that threaten the Imperium's advance, there comes another time I am told to conquer peaceful world's that wish only to be left alone. I am told to destroy whole civilizations and call it liberation. I am told to demand millions of men and women from these new worlds, to make them take up arms in the Emperor's hordes, and I am to call this a tithe, or recruitment, because we are all too scared of the truth. We refuse to call it slavery.' 'I am loyal, the same as you. I am told to bathe my legion in the blood of innocents and sinners alike, and I do it, because it is all that's left for me in this life. I do these things, and I enjoy them, not because we are morale, or right - or loving souls seeking to enlighten a dark universe - but because all I feel are the Butcher's Nails hammered into my brain. I serve because of this "mutilation". Without it? Well, perhaps I might be a more moral man, like you claim to be. A virtuous man, eh? Perhaps I might ascend the steps to our father's palace and take the slaving bastard's head"

I'm not really seeing what you could achieve with the BA. You've got anti-DS stuff with the Scouts, but you could get more out of it by dropping them, getting a couple more Jetbike Captains and getting the -1 to hit Vexilla to protect your Custodes a bit longer. Additionally, even though you've got the Custodes killing stuff, you'll need more than a couple of Infantry Squads to hold objectives.

That's personal preference and something I'm looking forward to trying!

I have the Dawneagle Jetbikes to do this and it's definitely a variant on the list I'll be trying.

We'll have to see! I think both are really good and could even see paying the CP for the bike as well.

I'll give this a try at some point, but my main intent for the Scouts is to hold down objectives so that the Custodes don't have to do so themselves.

I'm guessing the second Aquila is a typo (in the cadian battalion). Just a thought exercise why Cadian instead of one of the others?

Fixed! It's really as simple as I enjoy Kronos with Nids and don't intend to move the Cadians much, so I want their Lascannons to hit as often as possible.

I want to higlight that Grand Strategist works on each CP spent and Veritas Vitae is per stratagem spent, so they are different. A couple examples: if I'm doing a 1 CP stratagem, I get two chances on a 5+ to gain more CP. If I do a 2 CP stratagem, I get three chances (2+1).

I should have clarified in my original post that my intent is to deep strike the 8-man squad. I figure I can get an easily get a Bike Captain within 6" of them as needed. I'll keep an eye on this though.

The BA list provides the two Captains, who're awesome and enable shenanigans I can't do with Custodes, and the Scouts, who act as Deep Strike deterrents while keeping a nice area for my own 8-man Custodian unit to deep strike. The CPs don't hurt either. The Scouts / Cadians are meant to stay on objectives, while Shield Captains, Custodians, Jetbikes, and BA Captains are free to engage the enemy. I definitely don't want to be leaving 3-man 152 point Custodian Guard squads on objectives if I can help it.

It's a pretty neat idea - I'd not thought about combining the two... 2 CP to unlock it s a pretty hefty price tag though. You'd have to use 6 stratagems while the bearer is on the table and alive to get your investment back. Not sure how often that would happen with a captain who will want to be charging the enemy!
