Hey,

I use a combo of dice for CP, VP, Turn etc and I can't count the number of times I've picked up the dice thinking it was a spare or knocked it etc.

This got me thinking, how do you guys track these things?

I have had a quick look round to see if there are any good phone apps or some sort of physical tracker.

Think I'll resort to old school pen and paper (of which the battle journal by GW looks pretty good)

When playing ITC Champions Missions I tend to use the tracker they provide (I made a copy and laminated it) or when using GW missions I go with the pen and paper method.

I use pen and paper to keep track of points scored, unless using the maelstrom cards as that is easy enough. For CP, I usually place dice on top of a terrain piece so there is no confusion. Wound trackers are d10s.

We use a dollar store dry erase board on the wall. Works flawlessly for CP and points.

Are you using all the same dice for different things?
I use dice but they a different designs and colour for each thing.
D12's for wounds remaining on multi wound model's, D8's for CP's and different designs of d6's to allow me to roll plasma and bolters together, or different weapons together in the assualt phase. Aslong as your opponent can follow and clearly identify the difference like green dice red dice blue dice it can speed the game up alot.

All depends on what I have with me / available to hand.

Back to pen and paper then!

I am trying to embrace the new electronic age but can't do it.

For CP I use the GW green and black CP dice. I usually only have 5, so I have a pile of 5 of them somewhere. When I burn a CP I roll it if needed and then throw it in the bag.

For game turn I use Celestine. If she hasn't been killed yet it's turn 1. If she's only died once, it's turn 2. If she's completely dead it's turn three. There is no 4 or later because its 2.5 hour games at 2k.

Probably work

CP is usually a D12. Never pick it up because it is the one that doesn't get used, and I usually don't have more than that unless I'm being an ass.

VP is usually done on paper by one of us. Turn is forgotten about until we've been playing for about an hour and a half, in which case it's expressed in how many times we both remember me deep striking something.

I have a stack of MTG spindowns (d20s with sequentially placed numbers) of different colours that normally get used as wound counters but serve for VP/CP as well. I'm not normally rolling d20s in 40k but I generally put them on top of a building nobody's using just to be sure I don't pick them up by accident.

I got the fancy version of chapter approved mostly for the extra materials. So i have 2 cp/vp dials.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I use the Death Guard dice to track wounds and VP.

They are hugely different to the custom chessex dice I use normally so there is no chance to get them mixed up.

I place them near units to track wounds, place them near my maelstrom cards if playing a maelstrom mission. I honestly haven't had a problem remembering CP so I've never really tracked it.

"Courage and Honour. I hear you murmur these words in the mist, in their wake I hear your hearts beat harder with false conviction seeking to convince yourselves that a brave death has meaning.
There is no courage to be found here my nephews, no honour to be had. Your souls will join the trillion others in the mist shrieking uselessly to eternity, weeping for the empire you could not save.

To the unfaithful, I bring holy plagues ripe with enlightenment. To the devout, I bring the blessing of immortality through the kiss of sacred rot.
And to you, new-born sons of Gulliman, to you flesh crafted puppets of a failing Imperium I bring the holiest gift of all.... Silence."
