This guy is of to the drag race but I am not. While it does not look bad it has a very cartoony/ drag race feel. Like there should be flames painted on it. Is there a way to feather with out it coming out cartoony?

I honestly don't understand this thread.
You say it looks 'cartoony', that's not the first thing that springs to mind.
Not sure what 'drag race' means either.
You think it looks like a dragster and is begging to have flames painted on it? Again, not the first thing that comes to my mind either.
Leave the flames off if that's a problem.

Is it just that you have used two primary colours?

Block out the other colours first before you make a decision on any changes.

Oli: Can I be an orc?
Everyone: No.
Oli: But it fits through the doors, Look!

I'd agree with the above. Cartoony and drag races aren't the first to come to my mind.

I think the issue is the stark contrast between the two colours.

I actually rather like it as is. I think the red fades quite naturally up into the blue.

Ya there bad analogies. What I was trying to say is I am looking for realistic paint scheme, while doing a cool transition between two colors. I haven't done alot of transitions like this and I was wondering how other people were doing it.

realistic would I guess be a colour fading to a white, grey, brown or beige colour.
Remember that fantasy is set in stage inspired by an age where people didnt have advanced synthetic dye systems etc

They wouldn't have had uniforms either.

If you're going to base it on reality, you can't have:
Elves
Dragons
Wizards
Dwarves
Undead
Dinosaurs
etc.
etc.
etc.

At some point you've just got to let go of medieval history. The world of Warhammer has always been a brightly-colored one.
