I had/have plans to build a squad of Chaos Terminators with power swords, but the question arises of how to do the swords since there isn't a sprue for them. My idea was to make them look somewhat daemonic or otherwise twisted, to have them stand out as warriors more affected by the Warp than the basic rank and file. I'd considered Bloodletter swords, but I've already used one for my custom Abaddon model and didn't want them to look too similar (though I might just trim off some of the pointy bits to make them less ornate).

Since this project is still in the planning stages, I am looking for idea on how to convert the swords. What have you all done when in need of a more Chaotic looking sword?

Looking at those swords they'd make for sick looking power swords.

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

My questions first would be:
- What legion/God are you building these Termies to be?
- Are you planning to field these models competitively or otherwise?

Depending on the flavour of terminator depends on the kind of weapons that would look right and I ask whether this is just a project or whether you actually want to use these guys because power swords aren't really that good.

I don't mind a little bit of competitiveness, but I'm not going for hyper competitive. I chose the swords because they were cheap and saved points in the lists I was working on; I had planned to run them with combi-plasma using Abaddon's reroll aura and some kind of sorcerer to buff, and heavier melee weapons ate up a bit more points than I'd like.

As for specific Gods/Marks, I was tossing up between Slaanesh (for Endless Cacophony) or Tzeentch (for Weaver of Fates).

Terminators are bad this edition, the only terminators I've found to be good are Khorne Termies with plasma and fists. They're the most expensive Termies but you're already paying a stupid amount for them to a little bit more to make them good is a small price to pay.

Tzeentch Termies are just bad.
Slaanesh Termies with endless cacophony are better but take away a great stratagem from a unit with better shooting, I.e. Obliteraters.
Khorne Termies have moderate shooting but they also have the best chance of getting into melee with their re-roll rather than just sitting and waiting for death after they come down.

Build them however you like but I've only ever been able to make Termies perform well by making them WE and throwing on prescience and warptime.

What's wrong with that? Don't people like a bomb that throws out 10 plasma shots hitting on 2s and 16 powerfist attacks hitting on 3s?

We have to make some sacrifices in order to bring home the skulls.
