I noticed the deathwatch bikers and terminators are no longer on the GW site. Not sure how long that's been the case, but did I miss them getting squated since now we have super primaris marines and super gold marines, in addition to the super grey marines, so don't need super black marines, or something?

Deathwatch are getting a new codex soon I'm pretty sure. I highly doubt they're getting squatted.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes

I doubt they'd ever get squatted in the next decade. AT MOST i'd say they'd get reduced to being agents of imperium like the inquisitors, but honestly their model range is still too new. Why on earth would GW squat an army that still has a full plastic range that is on shelves? It's not like SoB, where their entire range is still finecast and pewter. (AT LEAST TILL 2019 WOO)

I don't know. Why is half the range gone from the website?

Reboxing, molds broke, redesigns, a number of reasons. It would be pretty foolish of GW to squat a space marine faction like that, let alone one that has a relatively modern boxed game, and no lore indications that they're going anywhere.

I have to say I am excited to see what DW will get for their new codex.

I believe most of the Deathwatch options where generic Space Marine Kit X + Deathwatch Upgrade Frame. Now you have to do the work yourself.

OR

There are some big changes coming with the new Codex.

Its this. The Deathwatch specific bikes have been absent for ages. I think I went looking before Christmas last year and they were gone.

Yeah, as has been said, a lot of the Deathwatch kits were the standard space marine kits with the Deathwatch upgrade sprue thrown in (or in the case of the Terminators, 3 Deathwatch Upgrade sprues, because each sprue only has 2 terminator pauldrons). They hung around for a certain amount of time after Deathwatch were released in 7th, but the were removed at some point last year. It's less boxes for GW to have to stock, and you have to pay more if you have to buy a space marine kit and the upgrade sprue separately.

The opposite is the case with the captain in terminator armour. The non-deathwatch captain has been discontinued but the deathwatch captain is still there with an upgrade sprue. They were the same price I think.

Now what do I do with the upgrade sprue I don't need...

OP, just check out the Community site. They're among the next three codices.

All the "Deathwatch" boxes(barring the Kill-Team itself, the Corvus Blackstar, and the specifically DEATHWATCH stuff) were splash releases; meaning that they were never intended to be long term additions to the product lines. It's why it was just a set of Bikers or Terminators or a Venerable Dreadnought or a Land Raider with the Deathwatch upgrade frames.

The only thing special about a deathwatch bike is the front plate, right? Is there anything else? More importantly, is there another way to get them? They are not on the upgrade sprue.

There's nothing special about them. They give you several of the upgrade frames to give the armplates to your bikers and to use the little icons.

No actually I was looking at painting up a small detachment and noticed they were gone from the site. A codex doesn't mean they're going to keep making the models. If they weren't selling well they might just put out a codex to appease people who already have an army but not bother keeping the model line up, especially a sub faction. I was just curious you feth face.

Be less of a douche next time.

Given the current policy of no model no rules they aren't releasing a codex for dead models.

Plus, you can still buy all of the deathwatch models - you just have to buy the upgrade sprue separately.

I'm sick and tired of people seeing a unit unavailable on the GW website and then posting here to ask if they're being discontinued. Stop it, troll or no.

All of the 'proper' Deathwatch kits (Kill Team, Corvus Blackstar, Watch Master) are still for sale.

It's worth having a look in your FLGS or GW store to see if they have any of the splash release kits (Terminators, Bikers, Vanguard Vets etc) still on the shelves even though they're gone from the webstore. They were typically not much more expensive than the equivalent regular marine kit, which saves you quite a bit over having to buy the upgrade sprue separately.

Note also that the Start Collecting set has an upgrade sprue in it. It's only there for the Venerable Dread to put some inquisition icons on it, since you don't need the shoulder pads for the kill team. Makes the Start Collecting set even better value given how expensive the upgrade sprue is just for a few shoulder pads and a couple of other bits.

As above, GW often take kits off their website for reboxing or other things. It's not permanent, and if you go to your local FLGS or just wait a bit, you'll find they're in stock.

Deathwatch aren't being squatted, they have a new codex coming out soon. Even if what you say about them getting rid of the models despite releasing a codex is true, that's not "squatting" something. And even IF the Deathwatch models were being removed (doubtful), they're just the normal SM versions with the Deathwatch sprue added in which you can buy separately.

Well one potential reason why shelf is what got squats...well squatted. Developers not being able to figure out how to do army be cool. Albeit unlikely here

The pre-packed kits will be being discontinued in favour of regular boxes and separate upgrade sprue. I’m surprised the boxes with bundled upgrade spruce lasted as long as they did, tbh.

"Discontinued" implies that they were still being produced.

We were told from the outset that these would be a "while stocks lasted" item. Some of the range lasted longer than others but realistically, a lot of people just went for the upgrade sprues if they already had the kits.

I did the other way round - I was building Salamanders at the time but knew I was going to do Deathwatch later. So I bought the Deathwatch splash boxes, built Salamanders out of them and got a whole bunch of Deathwatch upgrade sprues for not much mure cash than if I'd bought the regular marine versions of the kits.

Because their codex goes up for preorder soon and they're reboxing a bunch of stuff?
