Subject: Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus announced (PC Game)
Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus, the 3D turn-based strategy PC game adaptation of Games Workshop’s classic Titan Legions tabletop game, puts you in control of the greatest weapons available to the Imperium of Man, the mighty Titans of the Adeptus Titanicus!
The information I got sent from the developers:
Coming soon to Steam Early Access, Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus features a Skirmish mode against an AI opponent for single-player and an online multi-player mode. Upon full release, the game will also offer an exciting single-player campaign.
Control a force of Titans In Dominus, choose to control a force of Titans from the loyalist Legions of Astorum (Warp Runners), Gryphonicus (War Griffons), Crucius (Warmongers) or Osedax (The Cockatrices), or choose from the traitorous Chaos Legions of Mortis (Death Heads), Vulcanum (Dark Fire), Damnosus (Lords of Ruin) and Fureans (Tiger Eyes).
I've been testing this for the last month, very fun game, still under NDA so I cannot post any gameplay footage yet.

Always on the look out for good turn based games set in the 40K universe (or 30K universe).
But sadly, Adeptus Titanicus: Dominus looks to actually be based on Games Workshop’s classic...Adeptus Titanicus tableletop game, and not the real classic (and awesome) Titan Legions tabletop game.
What looks to be a complete lack of things other than Titans (and maybe Knights?) is a bit of a bummer.

I'd swear I can see dreadclaws and marine infantry in one of the screenshots, specifically the one that appears at the 2:47 mark. Pretty much in the center of the screen.

So what if it is? That will make the game easier to balance and therefore potentially more enjoyable as a result. It may result in a few less players by the score, but won't serve as a dangerous lack of content in any way innately. There is plenty of civil war flavor to explore.
Further, we live in an age of DLC. Other factions can be added - so long as the core is successful.

Is it just me or does it really fail to convey a sense of scale? The titans don't look big... they seem like they could easily be dreadnought size. It needs scenery which actually conveys how massive they are, or hordes of tiny infantry and vehicles...
I just took a glance, and that was my first thought Perfect; it doesn't look "big" at all. Looks a bit like an app-game to me, but I guess it's early days.
While GW has been firing on all cylinders lately, the one area I've been continually unimpressed is with the whoring out of the IP to mediocre computer games (and there are a friggin' ton). At a glance I'd imagine this is going to join that pile.

So what if it is?
Other than the fact that it is a bit misleading, and unnecessarily confusing to say it is based on a game that it isn't based on - especially when you can just say it is based on the game that it is named after?
Nothing?

Battlefleet Gothic Armada looked pretty cool though...

I just bought BFG; it's very pretty, but the tutorials are awful and at the moment I feel a bit lost in the complexity of it. I'm sure it'll pick up after I get thrashed a few times...
It is real-time though (but with an option for 'tactical cogitators!' that slows that real-time down).
If you want a great turn-based port, BFG: Leviathan is amazing - it's mobile only though, I wish they'd port it across to PC. It does completely match the original game mechanics though, from what I can see.

Yeah, I'm hoping this is suuppper Alpha. If it looks anything like this on release we can just count on chocking it down the pit with the rest of the recent 40K video games. Except Legion, Legion's looking like it's got some promise.
