Right, so I haven't done this for god knows how long... But I recently got back to the brushes, getting an entry ready for this years Golden Demons. Obviously I'm leaving it till the last minute to get things sorted, otherwise what't be the point?

Anyways, I'm painting up a Carcharodons marine for the event, a conversion of the Cataphracti captain from the first Horus Heresy box set.

It's fairly close to done at this point, but I need to redo the faceplate on the helmet since I've got some annoying uneven paint there...

A very early concept for the base. The floorgrilles were way too wide at first, so I dumped the middle one to tighten everytging up, and get some balance into the piece. At this point I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to achieve, and a sketch of the roadmap for the work ahead.

This shot is right after final fitting of the base elements, and basecoating them for concept testing. Fairly satisfied already, but it needed more stuff going on. More cables, more pipes, that kind of thing.

And this is where I'm at now. Painting at Warhammerworlds paint station, working on rust pigments at the moment. Tonight will be retouching some of the details on the miniature itself, redoing the faceplate and the very last details.

Last image of the day, this is as far as I got at the painting station today. Tomorrow morning it'll be time to redo the faceplate and hand him over to the mercy of the judges... :-)

And there we are! First display piece like this for me, but it's been a really fun process. I got to use so many techniques together, and really focus on a single miniature far more than I usually do, which was great fun! :-)

There are some really nice entries too, so I'm keeping expectations to zero, but it would be fun to get a finalist pin.

So, didn't win anything at the Demons, but I wasn't relaly expecting to so I'm alright. :-D

Did get to meet tonnes of fun people, bump into Robbie Macniven in the elevator and got to hold some of the Adeptus Titanicus models, before falling ill on sunday...

Anyways, I'm on to the next project, which is a Porphyrion Knight from Forgeworld.

The kit went together gloriously, so I am looking forward to putting some paint on it.

Tonight it got black primer, next up are the highlights on the black plating, before that gets masked off.

So, like many others, I am very excited to see the re-release of Adeptus Titanicus.
I have been fortunate enough to grab myself a copy, and have been working my way through the first warlord of my Legio Tempestus forces for the last week or so.

This is the Titan as it stands at the moment. I still have quite a lot of work on the metals and detailing, but the base colors are pretty much there.

I went with the classic urban camo for the carapace, will be doing the same for the rest of my titans, as a nod to the original Tempestus forces of the eighties.

Of course, painting Tempestus means checker patterns. I did mine using a stencil in which every other of the black squares was cut. So after applying the first half, I moved the stencil a tiny bit and did the second half. Each square is 2mm across.

Tempestus will travel in style! I have designed a template to lasercut transport cases for my Titans. Three different sizes for the Titan classes, with iconography to match the theme. The bottom will be magnetized so the machines stay put, and the front and back are clear avrylic, with a tiny eagle cut into the surface for that extra imperial look.

I have been working away at the 8mm scale Warlord, and am getting close to calling it done. At the moment I'm mostly looking at improving the base, and details here and there on the Titan itself.

I printed a tiny Dunecrawler to use for debris on the base, as well as three tiny troopers. These will give a better idea of the scale I think. Still need to finish painting the crawler, and paint the troopers to match.

Thanks! :-)

I'm really happy with how the old school Titan color scheme is working out, and am increasingly finding myself wanting to try this on a full (28mm) scale titan.

Today I will be working on the second heraldry shield, and finishing the lenses and cables around the head and arms.

That Titan has me in Awe. The checks are a masterclass in how to use stencils correctly. Look forward to seeing more of the legio.

The checks are awesome. Did you make the stencil yourself?

Glory is fleeting, but obscurity lasts forever.

Considering also your duty as a warrior you should not waver. Because there is nothing more auspicious for a warrior than a righteous war.
