I rarely ally and when I do I try to keep it fluffy. Whenever I play chaos I and I ally them with daemons, not a moaner in sight. When I play loyalists lists with allies, all hell breaks loose with the bitching. Anyone else who plays both find that?

Not really. I find people on the Internet whine a lot more than the people I play with.

I don't see that first hand but I see it plenty of times on the forums. I blame a few factors. 1st off, there is a LOT of cheese out there with Imperial Soup. It's all you ever hear about (not a day goes by without BOLS posting a new hyperbolic BS article screaming "THIS IS THE NEW IMPERIAL SOUP IT'S HORRIALE" just for example) you also have the fact that it breaks with tradtion. until 4th edition or so deamons and chaos marines where the same codex. and even when they split them, the 4th edition CSM codex had some rules, limp as they where, for deamon summoning.so the idea of deploying CSMs and deamons in the same army is something people are used to (the various CSM 'dexes even include rules for the basic deamons )

Meanwhile IoM allies is a "NEW SCARY THING"

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

Maybe because there are a lot of people who play Imperium or Xenos exclusively and, to them, all of the Chaos factions (CSM, Daemons, DG, TS, LotD) all merge into one whilst they're quite aware of the different Imperial factions/sub-factions.

I for one, up until recently, wouldn't be able to tell the difference between Eldar, Dark Eldar, Harlequins and Ynnari in an Eldar soup list.

In person they don't wine as obvious, they are more subtle about it but I've still had a few that overtly bitch. Forums are always 10 times worse of any behaviour.

I think it's true, though, that people are more accepting of non-Imperium allies. I have no idea why, as in the fluff Imperium forces very obviously fight alongside each other in a wide variety of circumstances.
