Hey gang,

My big project for this year is going to be a Chaos Warlord Titan with some associated bells and whistles. But seeing as there’s not any chaos models of related size, I’m looking for tips on kits, bits, and ideas for turning a Warlord to the dark powers. Any ideas are welcome, and thanks for reading

Are you thinking scratchbuild or converting an existing model ?
And any specific look already chosen ? The more boxy old one, ore maybe the rounder newer version now sold on FW ?

Thanks! I’m picking up the FW model and converting it with spikes and cathedral bits, very Word Bearers. Also adding a bunch of motors, some remote controls, and LEDs for funsies. Past that...I’m not sure. I know people have seen way more chaos models than I have, so I’m hoping to get some leads here

Well if it is word bearers, you can definitely go full church on that one !
There might me room to honor each god, with a main church choir at the center for undivided, and two towers on each shoulder, one for each god.
And in the main choir maybe setup a black mass, with human sacrifices.

You could also have a scriptorium, where demons would write blasphemous scrolls and giving them to corrupted cherubs for the rest of the army...

Do you plan on making it partly demon ? Although, such an expensive model, Even I would have second thoughts before chopping parts in pieces...still would probably...

Adding a Epic Khorne imperator, just because. Would have preferred finding the original model though, with some kind of scourge


Any thoughts regarding the head of the titan ?
Here are some possibilities imho :
- Go full demonic face, as is the case for many epic chaos titans, but at that scale I would be concerned of giving the model the look of a demon in armor
- Keep the original, but with a chaosy paintjob, to make it properly evil. Plus, word bearer writings
- Keep the original, but rework the trims to ass arrows and spike, as one would with loyalist power armor
- Sculpt/Build a completely new one

If you don't already have one, get a Dremel tool and different sizes of round carving heads. They're perfect for adding pockmarks on big pristine armor plates!

Awesome, good tips all around. @KernelTerror, I’m still up in the air on most of the details, but I like the brainstorming. Once I finish constructing the motor system and the LED arrays, I’ll get some concept art going.

@Slavetodarkness, solid advice. Dremel’s in my top five favorite tools, but I hadn’t thought about the carving heads

Well, it's significantly bigger than a warlord, but you might want to look at Abominatus, Despoiler of Worlds from White Dwarf 194:

There's a lot of OOP stuff there, but the basics are:

- Brass Scorpion turrets as point defence (you could use Forgefiend cannons)
- Multiple titan chainfists made into a flail
- Mighty Empires Necropolis replacing the original sensorum dome - the warlord doesn't have a dome, but you could use some AoS terrain as embellishments?

Not only is it a conversion, it's a conversion from the legendary Adrian Wood, I remember reading and re-reading that article over and over again as a kid, wishing I could afford an Imperator to do a similar conversion.
