Subject: HARLEQUIN VOIDWEAVERS AND POINTS

Fresh-Faced New User

New to 40k, still learning the rules.
Question on points and war gear options on Voidweavers.
They have 2 Shuriken Cannons standard
not sure what I can post specific to points sooo...
Voidweavers base poit cost is "X"
There are 2 options, the Hayire Cannon "Y", and the Prism Cannon "Z".
So what is valid....
Voidweaver base plus Y
Voidweaver base + Y +Y (Why would I do this)
Voidweaver base +Z
Voidweaver base +Z +Z (Once again why would I do this)
Voidweaver base +Y +Z

The simple answer is: All of the above I believe.
I do not have the Eldar Codex so cannot comment on which options are available. This is how you do the basic costing. Pay the cost of the voidspinner. Then look up the weapons you have on it (in this case at LEAST two shuriken cannons), add the cost of the weapons and that is the total cost. Now, below where it says options, etc, it may say something like "May exchange one or both shuriken cannons for a weapon from the following list (it usually is specific). So if you decide to exchange a shuriken cannon for say a voidspinner...you do not pay for the shuriken cannon, you instead pay for the voidspinner. If you replace both shuriken cannons you don't pay for either, but instead pay the cost of the replacement weapons. Just remember, because it says it comes with two shuriken cannons, you cannot buy it with less than two (or their replacements). You can have 1 shuriken cannon and one replacement weapon.
The exact wording of the gear options is the key. Some say replace both X weapons with. Some say Replace 1 X weapon with Y weapon. and you also may replace an X weapon with Z weapon, etc.
Hope this helps, I just didn't want to leave this unanswered and just trying to cover all generic questions on this I can think of.
One last thing. Remember, in this edition vehicles get to fire all weapons. So having 2 of one type does not hurt. You simply get to fire both. A leman Russ with 2 side sponsons holding Heavy bolters gets to fire both. A voidspinner with 2 shuriken cannons fires both (separately as the rules are currently written and they may be at separate targets if you wish)

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage. |

The datashet specifies that they come with 2 Shuriken Cannons and a Haywire Cannon.
Therefore you must pay:
Basecost for the Voidweaver +2 Shuriken Cannons +1 Haywire Cannon.
Alternatively, you may replace the Haywire Cannon with a Prismatic cannon and pay for:
Basecost for the Voidweaver +2 Shuriken Cannons +1 Prismatic Cannon.
You cannot purchase 2 Haywire Cannons or 2 Prismatic Cannons (as that is not a listed option), and you cannot forgo the Shuriken Cannons (as that is not a listed option).

This. You only pay for what you end up with, but you can't choose to not take the default loadout.

Does that mean my Kabalite warriors have to pay for their splinter rifles?
So the cost 6 points plus a rifle each?

Well, yes. You'll be surprised at the cost of the Splinter Rifles though. That's how points costs work in 8th. You take the Unit, do all your wargear options and swaps, then calculate the total cost of what your units wargear ends up as.
