So new rule book in hand, maybe someone else might have it. I am newer and less experienced at AoS.

New Book says allies, 1 ally unit for each unit in you main faction can be chosen without breaking your faction.
In matched played, it then says Allies can be 400 for 2000 point pitched battle... Then says this is in addition to ally rules listed on PAGE X ( X= page where it states the sentence above)

So not sure If I am reading it wrong.
But EXAMPLE ?

Alliance StormCast, 8 units total , which includes 2 leaders and 3 battle-line. ( Lets say 1300 points). Keeping all StormCAST faction traits and rules and goodies.
Plus
2 units of Wanders. (300 points total for sake of argument)
Plus
400 points of Idoneth deepkin.

This would be a Legal, pitched battle Army? All Order, Plus Stormcast get their fun and benefits?

It means you cannot have over 400 points in allies, and that for every unit in those 400 points there must be 4 units of non-allies. You cannot go over the indicated point amount for allies.

If a roadway has the rules "you must always have your headlights on" and "you cannot drive faster than 40" you don't get to drive 60 if you have your headlights on.
