I find it hilariously that the Imperium treat psykers like crap, when the Emperor himself is a psyker and he himself allowed psykers into the Legio Astartes lol I'd love to see Girlyman explain that to the Inquisition.

The emperor wasn’t a psyker he was a god! At least that’s what the average citizen thinks, I also doubt the average non military citizen even knows what a librarian is or would recognise one, Christ they probably wouldn’t even recognise an astropath or a navigator, they are taught psykers are bad because “we said so”

He banned them from the Legions.

Psykers also become incredibly powerful terrorists, summon demonic invasions and mind control people. Easy to see the negative view.

That's my point, I'd love to see their faces when they realise he wasn't a god and was in fact a 'psyker'.

Khan, sanguinius and Magnus implemented them, the Big E Just green lit them, IIRC they petitioned him after they had already been in several legions.

No they didn't they asked for them. The Emperor allowed for them. Do you think Khan, Sannyboy and Magnus implemented librarians in all the other legions, I think not.

Petitioning or suggesting something is not implementing it.

Well, psykers ARE dangerous. They're like Marvel's mutants but in space, people born with anything from mildly annoying to earth-shattering power. It makes perfect sense to have some control of them.

And ofc, not all psykers are treated badly. Sanctioned ones are usually afforded at least some respect if they're being useful. Astropaths maybe the worst off there, as their treatment can vary from system to system. Sometimes they're locked up and only let out if trailed by a soldier ready to put a cap in their head if it starts glowing. But at least on ships they're treated well as they're the only remotely possible way to call for help if something goes wrong. And the navigator, while not perhaps classified as a pure psyker despite having some pretty warpy powers, is the absolute master of his quarters and working area on the ship. Not even the Captain enters without knocking first. Military psykers are probably as badly or well off as they have proven themself worthy of trust. And ofc inquisitors with the power are also quite well off, but then again they are inquisitors...

It isn't the control I'm talking about. It's their irrational hatred for the psyker which is my point.

They're mutants, and Imperial citizens are conditioned to fear the mutant. They're also potentially insanely dangerous.

So, what's your point. The reason for their hatred towards psykers is irrelevant to the threads point.

No I didn't. The point of the thread is that I'd find it funny Girlyman explaining to the Inquisition that the Emperor was a psyker and allowed the Librarius.

Lol yes he did, that's incontrovertible. "The Emperor to Everyone at Nikaea "Peering into the darkness to gain knowledge of the warp is fraught with peril, for it is an inconstant place of shifting reality, capricious lies and untruths. The seeker after truth must have a care he is not deceived, for false knowledge is far more dangerous than ignorance. All men wish to possess knowledge, but few are willing to pay the price. Always men will seek to take the short cut, the quick route to power, and it is a man’s own mind, not his enemy or foe, that will lure him to evil ways. True knowledge is gained only after the acquisition of wisdom. Without wisdom, a powerful person does not become more powerful, he becomes reckless. His power will turn on him and eventually destroy all he has built.“I have walked paths no man can know and faced the unnameable creatures of the warp. I understand all too well the secrets and dangers that lurk in its hidden darkness. Such things are not for lesser minds to know; no matter how powerful or knowledgeable they believe themselves to be. The secrets I have shared serve as warnings, not enticements to explore further. Only death and damnation await those who pry too deeply into secrets not meant for mortals." "I see now I have allowed my sons to delve too profoundly into matters I should never have permitted them to know even existed. Let it be known that no one shall suffer censure, for this conclave is to serve Unity, not discord. But no more shall the threat of sorcery be allowed to taint the warriors of the Astartes. Hence-forth, it is my will that no Legion will maintain a Librarius department. All its warriors and instructors must be returned to the battle companies and never again employ any psychic powers.”Gasps of astonishment spread through the amphitheatre, and Ahriman felt his skin chill at the absolute nature of the Emperor’s. After everything that had been said, he couldn’t believe the judgement had gone against them. The Emperor wasn’t finished, and thunder rolled in his voice.“Woe betide he who ignores my warning or breaks faith with me. He shall be my enemy, and I will visit such destruction upon him and all his followers that, until the end of all things, he shall rue the day he turned from my light."

Untamed and unsanctioned psykers? Absolutely treated like crap. They are a MASSIVE threat even if they have no intentions of hurting anyone or betraying the Imperium.

Space marine librarians, primaris psykers, inquisitors, astropaths, navigators... sanctioned psykers in other words, are afforded respect and a little bit of awe. Imperial citizens are still terrified of them sure, but instead of being met with hatred, they are met with fear, uneasiness, and perhaps a little jealousy. I think most Imperial citizens know the difference between a sanctioned psyker and an unsanctioned one, although I suspect that a small minority of planets hate all psykers altogether regardless of what the Imperium says about being ok to use their abilities. It doesn't make sense but bigotry rarely does.

Read faith and fire, the adepta sororitas have a complete hatred for 'any' psyker, even Astartes psykers. They are treated like scum by the ecclesiarchy, same with most Imperials. They are taught to hate the witch, the sanction psykers are tolerated not liked.

This makes sense coming from probably an extreme ordos of sororitas, or some of the extremists within the ecclesiarchy, but I don't think most Imperial subjects hate psykers to that extent. A large percentage of inquisitors are psykers, are the sororitas going to hate them too? Not likely, as every mention of the sisters within the lore says they practically worship inquisitors as extensions of the emperor's will. Hell, SAINT CELESTINE is technically a psyker.

There is also multiple examples in the Ciaphas Cain novels of sanctioned psykers working with imperial guard officers without any seeing any undue hatred, although most of the guard officers were "creeped out" working with "spooks". Cain even had a dinner with a navigator once.

I also don't remember Eisenhorn or Ravenor getting any flak for being psykers by anyone, although it's been awhile since I read those novels so I could be wrong.

Kind of hard to do that... Mankind is slowly evolving into a psychic species like the eldar. In order for the emperor to stop that he would have to genetically modify every human in the galaxy to be blanks, which I think is impossible, even for him.

We're talking about someone whose long term plan was to take over the Webway.... he isn't a smart man.

IIRC the plan was to move into the Webway to shield people from Chaos and engineer out psyker genes while "dealing with" the existing ones.

They do, you should read the outcast dead, even during the time that the emperor walked psykers have been treated with hatred and disdain. Its pretty universal, worse in the 41st millennium. Like I said psykers that are put to use are tolerated.

He is a fan of psykers, he stopped their use because Magnus went further and started using sorcery, the Emperor only has something against sorcery not psykers, plus he wants humans to all evolve into psykers.

The Emperor isn't a smart man lol that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. His plan wasn't to move the webway to shield people from Chaos, what are you on about. He might of had a plan to evolve the race into psykers, he was on the golden throne at the end of the HH so he's pretty much incommunicado.

Psykers = sorcery. It's very much what they do.

Then why aren't Custodes psychic? Why aren't all Astartes? Why aren't more people? The man could have easily made many more psykers but he didn't do that. He did make anti psyker plans.

You think it's smart to try and invade a labyrinth full of disadvantages for you and advantages for your powerful enemy with no guarantee of any reward? You think it's smart to create superhuman leaders who can lead massive armies of superhumans and then neglect them so much they're obviously going to go traitor?

Psykers don't equal sorcery lol He only made anti-controllable psychic plans. As for the evolution, there is no mechanism for natural selection, so the psykers will never die out, he would probably look to start spreading them into the gene-pool when they became more stable.

Custodes aren't psychic to protect them from chaos, Astartes aren't all psykers because psykers are so rare, every psyker they get they use though. How is he going to make more psykers exactly... He made ant-uncontrolled psyker plans.

Likewise, an inquisitor who is a psyker isn't going to get any outright hatred from the Imperial subjects he works with. Fear, suspicion, dislike? Sure. But not outright "burn you at the stake" hatred that is reserved for untamed psykers or "witches".

But not outright "burn you at the stake" hatred that is reserved for untamed psykers or "witches".

The majority obviously hates them. hatred is not reserved for untamed psykers or witches. The Imperium count them as deviants as stated in the witch hunters codex.

Can you please give a lore example of anyone outside of the ecclesiarchy wanting to murder an inquisitor or a space marine librarian for simply being a sanctioned psyker? I'll wait.

There are numerous lore examples in the Ciaphas Cain novels that sanctioned psykers are treated with distrust, but not outright hatred. The fact that Eisenhorn and Ravenor were both psychic inquisitors and to my knowledge never faced any kind of stigma for that also support my claims. Hell Tigurius is one of the most respected marines in the Ultras, and wolf-priests are highly respected figures of wisdom among the space wolves.

He VERY clearly bans Librarians right there.

Yeah he banned it during Nikaea, but he allowed them in the first place. Its more clear if you know where that quote is from.

He ignored things and then when he looked at it he banned things. He's very clearly not a fan of psykers.

Doesn't he plan on wiping psykers out in general per Master of Mankind as well?

no, rather he knows Humanity are becoming psykers, it's inevitable, thus his goal is to direct the evolution of mankind in a safe manner. it's pretty clear that there would be fatalities from that though, once the web way project was finished he'd likly have arranged for the navigators to be destroyed. and one can guess the astropaths would have followed as well (although given the implimentation of the web way would have taken some time astropaths may simp[ly have been allowed to die out slowly. as they wheren't s custom engineered breed) my guess is the navigators dirty little secrets re mutation would have been revealed and the emperor would have "with a heavy heart" been forced to take action against the "massive genetic deviancy that had hidden for so long at the heart of the Imperium"

Ultimately the power of an Inquisitor extends as far as he can make it extend
