Hello! i'm new to the site, and a returning wh40k player / painter after a 10 years (i think) break. i was never any good at painting and i'm hoping i can get some help getting back into it.
I have chosen to start collecting tyranids, and i need a colour scheme i can do fast, yet have it look the way i want. Specifically what i'm after is either a look with pale flesh and light blue or pink carapace. I understand that the new washes are way better then the old inks. Is there a way to use a wash heavy technique to get light colours? can someone point me in a direction of a guide on how to achieve this? I have attached some photos for reference. I realise that i will not get the best results straight away, but speed is more important to me then perfection.
hope that's readable.
Thanks in advance!
If you're looking for speed I would suggest undercoating your mins in white or a very light grey and then using washes. The GW range of shades are pretty good, just go with the colour scheme you want, maybe try a few test models out first and you're good to go. You can then pick out as much or as little detail after to accentuate things like eyes, horns etc.
Edit: As for guides for beginners just search for warhammer tv on youtube, I think they may even have specific guides on how to paint tyranids in this way.

Yes, the shades are a lot more forgiving than the old inks used to be. If you wash/shade over a white base coat it will still be somewhat translucent when applied to the model so the more you shade it, the darker it will get.
Just change the carapace color to one of your choosing.
