Hi! Im building a thematic ”chaos undivided” list and would like some input from you guys! I understand this list will never be super competitive but I still want to ”not get steamrolled” when playing a game.
There are some things I want to keep in the list because I like the models but i want the rest of the units and the list in total to be as optimized as possible.

The units i definitely want to keep are;
Nurgle daemon prince
Sorcerer (or Dark apostle)
Cultists
Posessed

Renegade Knight

One greater daemon (BT, LoC or GUO)
Nurglings

This is the list as of now:

Alpha Legion Battalion

Daemon Prince (nurgle, talons, warp bolter)
Sorcerer (staff)

30 Cultists (slaanesh, autoguns)
10 Cultists (autoguns)
10 Cultists (autoguns)

Helbrute (fists, heavy flamers)
8 Possessed (Khorne)


Questor Traitoris Super heavy auxiliary detatchment

It’s probably a good ide to describe how I intend to use the list.

Infiltrate Cultists and possibly the Helbrute and/or the possessed for early pressure by shooting and theeat of charges.
Advance the daemon prince and sorcerer to support the cultist blob, helbrute and possessed with warptime and presience
Deep strike the horrors and the GUO to hold center objectives and whittle down targets with shooting and mind bullets
Heralds support possessed and horrors respectively by increasing strength.
The smaller cultist squads and nurglings screen and capture objectives. The nurglings can also create a ”dropzone” for infiltrators.

i would play a LoC with impossible robe he's tanky a lot, without need to have 1st turn. Why skullmaster if you dont have bloodletters?

I have been swinging back and forth between LoC and GUO so that bit of advice is appreciated. Also the choice of relic for the LoC is a lot easier since the nurgle relics mostly need close range or more nurgle daemons...

The skullmaster is there mostly to buff the possessed but i guess he can be downgraded to a bloodmaster or even removed completely.

Guo is nice, but Loc is pretty durable when you get your turn and cast gaze of fate he get a 2++ with the stratagem, and 2 potential saves re roll, so i prefer it over Guo. Take out the possesed and play some bloodletters+bloodmaster, Bl are strong.

Yeah, I know the possessed are too expensive for what they do. I do have a bunch of bloodletters so I might swap them if I need to crank the power up a bit or play a more competitive game. I just really like my possessed models (modified Gal Vorbak models). Someone suggested I include a barebones warptalon squad to deny overwatch... i might be able to ”counts as” my possessed as those in my local group. What do you think about that?

in casual games both possessed and warp talons are fine, of course if you like the models play them

So right now I’m looking at replacing the Skullmaster with an exalted champion (for re-roll 1s to wound aura) with blade of the hydra and remarking the possessed as Tzeentch instead. In a previous incarnation of the list there were more Khorne units but when you asked me why i included the skullmaster i started thinking.

So for casual games:

For more competitive games I’m remove the possessed and exalted champion and add a blob of bloodletters and a skullmaster

How does that sound?

yes perhaps better remove possessed, the best option with your list are two armigers with thermal spear and rip chain cleaver, so you get extra armor and not just 1 single Ik and 3 more cp's

Can't reroll saves with impossible robe.

However, LoC is extremely tanky still.

u can re roll one anyway, and still you have a 2++ save.

Read the rules for the strategem, you cannot reroll any saves once used. Otherwise, you have a 3++

Unfortunately you can only infiltrate infantry units. Otherwise I'd be infiltrating as many helbrutes and helforged contemptors as possible lol Definitely think it's a solid list though

Crap, I totally forgot that the stratagem was infantry only! My memory confused it with the legion trait that applies to helbrutes as well... No worries though, it was merely a small bonus. It will either die quickly as the distraction carnifex it is, or advance as fast as possible to go ham on the opponents infantry with the flamers and hopefully make a charge before it dies.
